It's difficult to transliterate Hannukah because not every Hebrew letter corresponds exactly with an English letter. In Biblical Hebrew (may also be true in modern Hebrew, but it's not what I studied), there also generally aren't vowels. So a lot of words cant really be transliterated exactly. Hannukah starts with the Hebrew letter Chet, which is sort of in between a ch sound and an h, but isn't really either. I'm thinking since it's a transliteration of a non-English word, people spell it different ways to capture the pronunciation. And why is it spelled a million different ways? I was raised Catholic and wasn't exposed to other religions until I got to college and spent time with people from religions other than my own. So, I'm curious how you spell Hanukkah (I spell it that way because that's what auto-correct tells me to do). And why are there so many different ways to spell it? I know I could Google this but I'm just looking to hear from Bees. :)
