Ours are a mess. I tried to keep some of of the nicer sets in ziplock bags inside their own boxes, but only managed to successfully do it for some. I noticed that Ikea collaborated with Lego and introduced storage boxes. I wish they had those years ago!

@peaches1038: I like those pouches! Our instruction books are just....everywhere

@JennyPenny: We have the trofast for our primary toy storage too and a couple bins have random lego pieces and one is just for his "inventions." I like the idea of only having a set out at a time though, he's getting sets for Christmas and it's just going to be too much if we have them all out at once.

@peaches1038: ooh those look nice!

My son’s storage is all IKEA trofast, for all toys, not just legos. Bigger sets have their own bins, smaller ones are in tupperwares in a bin. We don’t really keep assembled sets though. He’s only allowed to have one set out at a time. When he wants a new one it gets disassembled and put away. Though he doesn’t do this without being reminded yet.

I am sure there are threads about this, but how do you store built LEGO? I don't mean the loose bricks, I mean built structures, vehicles, etc. DS has a lot of sets (he's more into that than building something from his imagination) and he likes to play with them but his two younger brothers get a hold of them and destroy them. Right now they just sit on top of an ikea storage thing, and I hate the idea of putting shelves on a wall just for LEGO storage, but maybe that's the answer?
