All the play food and cooking dishes live inside of her kitchen, and then she has a cube organizer box full of tea sets, a couple aprons, chefs hats, etc.

I have these and use them to store play food, then I keep those in the land of nod storage bins.

They come in a few sizes too. I actually use them for all of his "loose" toys. Cars, magnatiles, etc.

I have 2 plastic baskets within the fridge that holds all the food. The dishes are in the dishwasher part and the other appliances (toaster, blender, etc.) sit on top of her kitchen.

Inside the kitchen. We have a few containers in the kitchen that hold the little food and such. A lot of times the food just gets tossed into it and the doors are slammed behind the food so it stays in...until you open the door the next time. :)

I don't see why the play food can't be kept in the fridge, and the untensils and plates in the dishwasher...that's how I do it in my own house and how I did it as a child too.

If you have the space though, I'd do a small bookshelf with bins, or some kind of cabinet. Then you can put the appliance on top or in the shelves.

The food is in the "fridge" in baskets, and the dishes are in a basket on the floor next to the kitchen. Not perfect, but it's easy to maintain and use.

We have a plastic tub that's low enough to slide under the kitchen, and some goes in the grocery cart.

Mostly inside, the play food is in the tub it comes with sitting next to the kitchen underneath the "table" so it doesn't look messy.

@PinkElephant: We keep his pizza set, and his pots and pans in the actual kitchen (in the stove) to help keep things a little more organized. He has a coffee maker, mixer, and toaster that we keep on the tops/counter of the kitchen. We have the IKEA kitchen, so it doesn't have a lot of great storage areas. I like the drawers too...it helps him see all the toys a bit easier and keeps things pretty well corralled. I remember struggling with finding something to keep all the kitchen crap organized...it was crazy for a long time before I randomly saw the cart at Target and grabbed it for the food. We've had it for a year and it works great! They have wider options that would probably work if you needed the extra space!

@bookwormmama: Cool! I was thinking something similar might be nice! We have a lot of kitchen crap (pizza set, cookie set, slicing set, sushi set, appliances galore....the list goes on), and the thought of it all being dumped into just one bin kind of makes me anxious - drawers could be a good solution.

You all probably think I'm insane with all my organization posts this week. I'm just realizing my house is going to look like a preschool, so at least I'd better make it a well-organized preschool.

We use one of these 3 drawer carts without the wheels: http://www.target.com/p/3-drawer-medium-storage-cart-white-room-essentials/-/A-16644154

I used to try to sort them by types, but now food/dishes go in the top two drawers and his tools, phones, cameras, other house related items go in the bottom drawer. It works really well for keeping all the food stuff in one area and he usually just opens the drawers to find what he needs instead of dumping everything out, although that does still happen occasionally :silly:

It's just in a little shopping basket (the kind with handles, not a cart) under the kitchen. The basket came with the food.

Usually the food all gets dumped into the shopping cart, and the utensils in a basket on top of the kitchen.

Do you keep your play food/kitchen items INSIDE the play kitchen, or somewhere else? I've currently got everything stashed in the kitchen itself - fridge, microwave, dishwasher....but now that we're going to a setup where the kids have a whole playroom for their toys, I'm considering storing the play food and utensils in another place so that the kitchen spaces are more open for playing (and the toys don't get dumped out to clear those spaces).

Thoughts? How are you organizing your LO's kitchen things?
