We just went for it. My DS was 30 months when we potty trained using the 3 day method (which worked). We went to brunch that same weekend. I gave him a big pep talk beforehand saying I wasn't taking any diapers with us and that he had to be a big boy and tell us if he had to pee. I think we went to the toilet 6 times during brunch, but he didn't have any accidents at all!

Bring extra underwear and pants and take her to the restroom wherever you go so she gets comfortable with public bathrooms. Keep outings short at first and gradually make them longer. Good luck!

Just do it. Start with short trips first and see how she does. Make sure she uses the potty before leaving the house. It takes 30 minutes to get from our house to daycare (public transit) and so far so good. I think the longest she has been out was an hour, and she asked to use the potty while out.

Yeah, just go nuts. Protect your carseat. Carry a ton of changes of clothing. Maybe just try some short trips to the store, to the park, to wherever you're not going to feel terrible when she pees on the floor. Which will for sure happen.

@misolee: Just go for it. We ditched all diapers right away and it has worked out well. My LO does fine in the big potty in public, good luck!

My 26 month old LO is pretty much potty trained at home. She goes by herself (takes off her underwear and pants) in her Bijorn potty and even takes it to the toilet to flush it. She hardly has any accidents. She still wears her diapers for naps and bedtime.

I haven't had the courage to take her diaper off when we go out. How do you take the plunge? Should I carry her potty with me? I did buy the car seat protector just in case. Any other tips?
