I did that and Ds took to it pretty quick once he realized there was something in the straw. Some take a lot of work to get liquid out! bought a Zoli cup and gave him water in it and he took to it right away. It's very easy to get liquid out of it. She started out just chewing on the straw, but within a couple weeks (maybe even days) she had figured out how to suck water up (but not how to swallow) and by 8 months she was drinking from it. My DH taught LO how to do it by first teaching him to eat out of a pouch (he learned the sucking motion) and then he would put a little applesauce on the end of the straw to encourage him to suck on the straw for the cup. DD1 mastered open cup much earlier than a straw cup. I would just keep trying with the straw cup. I think it took her about a month? He just chews on the straw/spout/cup lip. Sometimes he'll get a little water out of the 360 cup.</p> <p>He seems to prefer to drink out of an open top cup (he'll chew on the edge of these too, even when it is glass which really freaks me out) but I have to hold it and we both end up getting wet. </p> <p>Any advice for which type of cup is best and how I can help him learn to use it? </p>
