She makes a spitting sound but doesn't actually spit much out at all. That's why we only use a tiny bit of toothpaste. DD1 struggles with spitting at 3.5, though she's very dramatic about trying. He sees us do it and tries, but he doesn't always spit anything out. Not just for fun. ;-) They'll learn that from the kids at school, I'm sure. But seriously, how did you teach your child to spit? Or how did they learn? We had friends visiting recently and I noticed their son was really good at spitting out his toothpaste. My daughter, on the other hand. still swallows it. They're the same age.
