I've done stir fry and most recently in a roast with other root vegetables. The inner core is very stringy; I think if I got rid of the core it will be much better!

@mfa_lady: thanks!

@Mrs. Tricycle: I think you're the only 'fan'! It must be super easy to grow or something- it doesn't appear that many CSAs have people clamoring for it :)

I do the same as @Mrs. Tricycle! Steam it and eat it. We aren't a huge fan of it but we received some from DH's uncle's garden and didn't want it to go to waste.

I peel it, then cut it into wedges, then steam until tender. A little salt and I'm happy. I actually love the stuff!!

It just tastes like cabbage to me, so whatever I'd put cabbage in, I'll chop up kohlrabi and stick that in as a substitute. I think my favorite thing I've done was a salad/slaw with kohlrabi and apples cut into matchsticks with a lemon/yogurt/olive oil dressing.

@scg00387: @Mrs. Twine: LOL at 'tastes likes stir-fry'!! hehe. i totally understand....

sometimes we try to mix it up by serving it over different things other than rice. chinese egg noodles, flat rice noodles, or even spaghettini noodles are good! just make sure to flavour the noodles a bit after boiling by adding some sesame oil and some other chinese sauce (oyster, hoisin, and/or soy) to give it a bit of pep. and give the noodles a quick stir fry in a hot pan :)

oops sorry didn't mean to write so much! the noodles are my favourite part of stir fry :P

@scg00387: I have several sauces/marinades/whatever you want to call them, but all the same, it tastes like stir fry. Which is great for disguising stuff that is not fabulous, but it's also like this supremely same Chinese-restaurant-style equalizer: you could have some delicious produce that boasts hoardes of singing angels trailing in its wake, put it in there, and... stir-fry. Similarly, I could dredge up something random from our yard that the dogs wouldn't even want to touch (which would be why it was still in our yard) and, assuming we didn't get some sort of food poisoning, it would be... stir-fry.

@Mrs. Twine: oh man. would he ever get along in this house :) I similarly asked if he liked the stir fry tonight and he started with "well... it's stir fry..". I have been mixing hoisin sauce & srichacha lately which kicks it up a notch!

@scg00387: I was going to put "bam!" like Emeril because I'm tired and it's put me in a punch-drunk-silly sort of mood. My favorite is I always ask Mr. T what he thinks of the stir-fry and he always says, "it's fine." It's gotten to where we both laugh as soon as I start the question. It never tastes bad, but it just always tastes like... well, stir fry. But so I always pretend that it's this new, fantastic thing that I'm entreeing, and he thinks I'm a giant dork. "Tastes like stir-fry" is the new "tastes like chicken."

@Mrs. Twine: HAHA so perfect - I just had stirfry and included our giant head of asian cabbage... I wish I'd thought of that! DH is normally my human garbage disposal but the CSA is pushing our boundaries. This is a shot of the bok choy from 2 weeks ago, we've received the same amount each week.

@Baby Boy Mom: ooh that is a good idea for a side! thanks!

I don't really like it, but I've had it before in salads with tomato and cucumber all cubed and then a lemon/olive oil dressing.

I eat it with PB (sooooo creative. I know. ;) ) I am not really a fan. Or I use it in stir fry. I put just about anything in stir fry. Ask Mr. T. It is my go-to way of getting rid of CSA surplus.
