@leelee - yep, we've been thawing and using target bags for 5 months now, and we haven't had any leaking. (2 bags a day/5 days a week). so far so good!

@leelee: @rolypoly: I use Target bags, and then a system very similar to @Adira:

In 6 months I have had *1* bag fail when thawed. I thaw, on average, 4 bags a day, 5 days a week. So I'd say that's pretty good. If there's 4 weeks in a month, that's 80 bags a month, or 480 bags total - even if I overestimated and there was only 400 bags that's still a 0.25% failure rate. Most of the bags have 3.5-4 oz of milk in them - this is one serving size for DS.

(I had to buy a whole new freezer for my stash - it's not overproduction, it's DH storing too much stuff in our regular freezer :meh: )

I've heard great things about Target bags as well. I use Ameda bags just because my insurance provides them (150 bags/90 days) for free. It's worth checking to see if your insurance provides them as well!

@rolypoly: have you thawed out any of your target bags? Just curious because I was thinking of switching to them but heard they leak during the thawing process.

Target bags work pretty well too - we lie flat and store in gallon bags by month. I stored 3.5 ounce bags at the beginning, 5 ounce bags now. Good luck!

I also do the Lansinoh bags frozen flat. I've never had a problem with them leaking -- the only bags that have ever leaked on me are actually the Medela pump and save bags, which I used when I was traveling for work so I could pump directly into them instead if transferring from bottles. I hated the Medela ones because they have a single zipper (Lansinoh has a double zipper) which was hard to seal, and you can't freeze them flat.

Like @jetsa, some of my Lansinoh bags leaked when I thawed them, but now I thaw my milk standing up in a vase and my leakage has decreased significantly. I freeze my milk flat and then store upright like Adria does.

I used the laniosh bags as well. Some of them leaked when I un-froze the milk and my daycare lady said the medela ones never do but it wasn't worth it to me to by more expensive bags when only 10% or so had a small leak.

I also used the Lansinoh storage bags (dating and writing #of oz). Froze the bags laying down so it was flat, then I put them in a gallon sized ziploc bag and stored them upright in a larger reusable grocery bag in my chest freezer so I could just pull out the oldest from the far right and go from there.

I used the same bags as others have mentioned. My LC suggested freezing milk in 2-3oz bags for a while and then once you have a good stash of that, upping them to 5oz bags. That really helped me defrost the proper amount every day for daycare bottles. Lay them flat on a piece of cardboard in the freezer and then you can line them up in a shoebox or something similar to keep them nice. Or, if you're lazy like me, just toss them all in giant freezer bags.

I used the Lansinoh bags and wrote the amount and date on them and then laid them flat in my freezer. Once they were frozen, I put them upright into bins in order by date so that I was always taking the oldest out first.

The bins I used were the Sterilite Ice Cube Bin. The Lansinoh bags were the perfect width to fit in those great.

I use the lansinoh bags and write the amount and date on them. I then put all those bags in a gallon freezer bag with the date range and total amount. That way I knew I was using the oldest milk when I had to dip into my stash.
