I bring the dimmer on the main light up slowly and then unswaddle our 4 month old, which generally earns me the biggest smile I'll see all day!

When he was little, I'd undress him, change him, or tickle behind his ear. When I wake him in the morning, I undo his swaddle and let the baby stretch do the rest

Thank you! She's a week old, so we're still trying to feed regularly during the day, but of course, she spends a LOT of time sleeping! Diaper changes usually work, but I can't (won't) do multiple per feed if not necessary!

If he's nursing, I'll rub his back or gently blow in his face. If he's in his crib, I raise the shade, and if that doesn't work, I'll pay his tummy and unzip his sleep sack.
I think anything that isn't abrupt or startling is good :)

I turn on the lamp first and turn off the white noise. Then I gently rub his tummy and say his name and usually he starts to smile!

We were told that if LO fell asleep while eating, tickle her feet, stroke her face, and I rub her tummy. When I need to wake her up from a deeper sleep, I try turning on lights, picking her up, changing her diaper.

As gently as possible :-) If she's in her crib, I usually gently say "good morning, Miss W, it's time to get up". If that doesn't wake her up, I'll rest my hand on her and let her stir around until she wakes up.

How old is your LO? If DD fell asleep when she was nursing, I would just talk to her and try to get her to eat, or I'd take my boob out of her mouth - that alone would wake her up enough to get her to start sucking again.

Changing her diaper is the best way for us. She is wide awake and she loves her changing table so she is usually in a playful mood.

ETA: With my older girls we have a good morning song we sing when it is time to get up. They each get a back rub and their song.

In spite of people saying "don't wake a sleeping baby," sometimes I feel like I need to wake her up. She sometimes falls asleep while nursing, and I want her to eat a little bit longer, sometimes she's been sleeping for so long that I want to feed her, and sometimes I just want her awake for more of the day. What are your methods for waking the sleeping baby on purpose?
