@PasteMoo: Yep - I totally think the reason I haven't yet gone up in bandwidth is that butterbean is doing her best to stay below my belly *equator* . . . I still, at 24 weeks, have a small bump, and it's low, too. I am sure that will change in the coming weeks. I have had a little change in bandwidth, i.e., I used to use the smallest set of hooks to close the clasp, and now I need the last set of hooks. :)

@Hilsy: No worries! :P

I don't wear normal bras. I wear the kind that come in small, medium, and large, so it's easier to get a good fit.

@hilsy85: low=where it's supposed to be. try a bigger band size--most people go up 1-2 band sizes when pregnant since baby is renting some rib cage space

@MsLipGloss: Haha sorry to make you contort yourself to check!! I agree that I would rather have a well fitting bra that gives me back fat than one that leaves me saggy but is smooth in the back. I just wish I had a personal bra fitter at home to tell me the right thing :)

@pastemoo: Ahh I feel like it's where it's supposed to be? Like not too low not too high? I lengthened the straps and that made the back fat seem a little smoother, so maybe that was the issue?? I really appreciate you all trying to help me figure this out, lol. The main problem is that i'm too lazy to go take a trip up to saks and get fitted, and too cheap to spend the money on the expensive bras that they'll have there!

@hilsy85: oh, you can do 2 hooks at a C... just look at how high the strap is--if it's high and you have back fat the band is too big
if it's low with back fat, the band is too big
i never buy before trying it on--even though I am "sure" I am a 32G, in some brands I'm a 34F, and some I'm a 32F. Trial and error....

@Hilsy: I think I have a little bit, as compared to having none pre-pg. (I just spent a minute or two poking around my back and sides to check. :P) There are little bulges close to the sides as I move my hands from my sides around to my back, but none in the back or in the front (or front sides, if that makes sense) across my ribcage. But I wouldn't sacrifice the fit to be completely bump-free.

@MsLipGloss: But do you have the back fat issue with having kept your band size the same? because my current band size feels like it's supportive, but the back fat is making me think that it's too small. But I don't know if back fat is just something that I have to deal with regardless of whether the bra actually fits or not.

@pastemoo: I also agree that VS does not do a great job with measurments. And I generally don't really like their bras. I just checked and realized that all my bras have 2 hooks--it's hard to find smaller cup sized bras (b and c) with 3 hooks instead of 2!

@MrsBrewer: victoria's secret doesn't do proper measurements.

Try a boutique for measurements, and check this out:
http://www.bravalingerie.com.au/bra_problems_troubleshooter_page.html
Note: if you get backfat, it could be too big OR too small band size--depends on if it is riding up AND giving you backfat.

(I'm a 32G now, so I regularly get resized so I look pretty instead of fat. I was 30DD prepregnancy.)

The band gives you most of the support you need, with very little need for any support from the straps. I prefer bras with "cute" straps, and a nice thick band (3 hooks in the back)

@Hilsy: I normally wear a 32D, although I am currently sporting a 32DD. I have found that wider shoulder straps, as opposed to a larger bandwidth, have given me much better support. Well, I guess I should say that I like to get most of my support from the band as opposed to the straps, so while I needed to go up a cup size (and shoulder strap width), to keep a secure fit, my bandwidth did not need to change. The combination of wider shoulder straps, larger cup size, and same bandwidth has given me (so far) a great fit without the chest strap riding up in the back.

As an aside, I am not a proponent of the *if you can't find your cup size, just go up/down to get a comparable fit,* i.e., if you need a 32 D and can't find it, just go for a 34C. Whenever I have received that advice at a lingerie store/department, I know the person I am working with lacks experience. Just like when a salesperson refers to handbags as purses, I know all I need to know. :) (Purse is something you do with your lips . . . you carry a bag.)

@Bluebonnet: Yeah....I see what you mean. I thought I would be able to work around that by trying on a bunch of different styles in different sizes, but even the one that seemed to fit the best still gave me back fat. Boo!

Make time to get fitted - it makes the biggest difference. Even if you measured yourself correctly, that doesn't mean the bra you bought is the best choice for your body. Kind of like all size 8 dresses don't fit and flatter all size 8 bodies, all 34Bs don't fit and flatter all 34B bodies. A good bra fitter can work wonders.

They don't ever fit well. I found the wider the band, the less back fat issues I have. I can never seem to find a cup that fits right, though. Why are there no half sizes in cup sizes?

I feel like whenever I buy bras they never fit! So i've given up....I just wear whatever ones seems to fit the best. I've even gone to Victorias Secret, gotten measured, had the consultant in there to make sure it fit, and I still hated them. Hahaha So yea.....I normally go get the cheap Target or Walmart ones. Sometimes I will splurge for a bra from Kohl's!

The place where the bra band is most comfortable for me causes the back fat (no matter how loose or tight the straps are). I have to make sure I keep the band a little lower if I want it to look better. The last bra I bought has a really wide band, which I like. I will probably keep buying those from now on.

I finally got new bras this week after weeks of squeezing into too small ones. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to get to a department store where I could be measured, so I just used trial and error. I thought I had gotten the correct size, but when I put on a shirt, I can see the icky roll of back flab under/around the band of my bra :( I hate it, and I don't know if it means a) the bra band size is too small, or b) I just have extra flab on my back, lol. So if you KNOW you're wearing the right size bra, do you still have some of that back fat? Or do you think it means I need to size up?

FWIW I tried measuring myself at home and was told that I should be wearing a 34B, which is what I was spilling out of before!
