He's never really liked the car. It was awful in the infant seat, slightly better in the convertible. But I dread anything over 20 minutes as I know it's going to be miserable.

Mine are fine.
They're pretty good little roadtrippers. Made it to Florida and back without many meltdowns at all.

Sometimes, LO (11 mos) cries when the car stops at a light. These days he gets fussy when he throws his toys onto the backseat and I can't give them back. Other than that he's a trooper and is helpful in getting him strapped in and out of the car.

Ds is good. We frequently drive 3 hours to visit family. He often chats to us for a while, naps, ten watches a show.

Dd hates the car seat. She's getting better and the last trip we made she slept almost the whole way. She used to scream almost the whole time. She's only 9 months though and isn't interested in much for longer then a minute.

My daughter has literally hated the car since day 2 of life. She's 2.5 now and we can reason with her and bribe etc but it's still not her favorite place. Part of it is that she has a really hard time falling asleep, I remember sitting in the back seat with her when she was an infant one evening after dark and she was trying so hard to fall asleep but her eyes would jolt open after we drove under every single street light. Even now if she does fall asleep, which is a big if, it's for 40 minutes tops and it's often accompanied by so much crying that she vomits. It's truly miserable.

Luckily my commute is only 20 minutes, so the kids do really well in the car.

Yesterday we went to my nephew's bday party in Brooklyn and we had epic traffic. The way down they were fine (2 hrs), but the baby was not having it on the way home. We had to stop to feed/chill. We listen to music, the baby has a few toys, and my 3.5 yo plays with his toys or blabbers away with us.

They hate it. We live in NYC and dont own a car. The kids aren't used to it. Last time we were out of the city for a week we went to breakfast and LO1 had a huge fit getting into the car and kept saying "no mama, it's ok, I walk, I WALK" not the 10 miles home you dont....

I am also not used to two kids, the car and parking lots. It makes me nervous and i never feel like i do everything in the right order. I am sure that doesn't help.

Baby is fine. 2 year old needs snacks and music and occasionally a light book or toy. We haven't done any super long road trips with them.

I commute with my 2 yr old daughter 35-40 minutes each way every day. It is super rough at times! She goes through phases, sometimes she is chill and others not so much. Today I thought to bring some new books out to the car and that actually helped a lot. But there is a lot of crying, I have to sing a lot and sometimes I just have to space out and ignore her :silly:

I have a hard time getting DS two into his car seat and feel like I am constantly wrestling him. But once he is in his car seat, he is fine for a long time. Even on long car trips. He doesn't make a peep for the most part, and almost always sleeps on longer trips. My older son who is generally pretty active and very talkative is also pretty mellow in the car. This is a good thing since we live in a city that is a driving city and has terrible traffic. We spent quite a bit of time in the car.
