I hang shirts and dresses (everyday stuff on the bottom which she can reach). Shoes have a little place in that closet. pants/socks/pjs/shorts go in drawers. I keep the bottom two drawers that she can reach with the clothes she wears now. Top drawers are for storage, bigger clothes, stuff I don't want her going through every day.
I also put some plastic storage bins in there to help organize - so in one wide drawer, I have one bin that holds all pjs and then next to it (no bin really needed for other side) I put shorts. similar to bottom drawer.

In baskets (short sleeves, long sleeves, bottoms, pj's, socks, shoes, hats). And they are a MESS. It's not a good system ...

I have ikea drawer dividers. One drawer for shirts, divided into long sleeved and short sleeved right now. (Earlier in the summer it was divided shirts/rompers.) One drawer for pants, divided shorts and pants. One drawer for cloth diapers, one drawer for miscellaneous stuff, divided with small organizers. I don't fold his clothes, just lay them flat. by some definitions they might be messy, but everything has a home and i never have trouble finding what im looking for.

Eta: i only keep stuff that currently fits in the dresser. I have a basket in the laundry room for stuff he outgrows. Every couple months i move that stuff to the attic and grab stuff from the next size up.

Drawers and hangers. We only have 3 drawers so I put PJ's, socks, and shorts/swim shorts in the top drawer, shirts in the middle, pants on the bottom. I hang up jackets, sweaters, and dressy shirts.

Mostly drawers!
1- shorts, short sleeved shirts/onesies, & summery outfits already folded together
2- long sleeves, pants, long sleeved sets
3- pjs, sleep sacks, blankets
4- socks, bibs, burp cloths
5- diapers & wipes
6- random things, things that she grows out of or are too big get put in here until I change out all the sizes

I hang up a few nicer dresses that would get wrinkly
Eta: her drawers aren't all full but I found this is easiest for us & most daddy friendly

-Drawer 1 - Accessories, socks, bibs, burp cloths, shoes
-Drawer 2 - PJ's/sleepers

Some in drawers and some on hangers

Drawers (from top to bottom)
-two tiny top drawers are for tights right now bc she hardly wears them
-PJs
-Pants - mostly leggings/jeggings arranged by color (stack of jeggings, black pants, grey pants, and pink pants). Her shorts also go here in the summer. I have 2T on the left and 3T on the right sides of the drawer...we are almost fully into 3T so I will grab the stacks of 2T and store them in a large plastic bin
-White long sleeve shirts and white short sleeve shirts for laying. Camis and tank tops also go here. Stacked by type of shirt and again left side has 2T and right side has 3T
-Underwear (I have two large organizer bins from Ikea sitting in there - one has underwear with patterns/colors and the other has white underwear). Then I have 2 smaller organizers bins for her socks (dark/pattern socks in one bin and white/grey socks in the other)

My husband installed a closet rail halfway down so she has 2 places to hang her clothes and the bottom rail has a shelf where I can set folded clothes and baskets - best idea ever! Also she can grab clothes from the bottom rail. As she's getting older she likes to pick out clothes so I may change this soon but currently

Right side top rail in order of type of shirt - tanks/sleeveless, short sleeve, long sleeve, sweaters

Bottom rail - some pants, hoodies and then dresses.

I mostly use the right side of her closet. The left side has the next size up and it's not really organized. I also have a big plastic bin where I can put away clothes that are too small

Her shoes and jackets are stored downstairs

most of their clothes in drawers (except for a few coats/puffy vests). they are both boys, so I imagine if I had girls I might hang more stuff since I love dresses :)

we have a 6 drawer malm from ikea (4 large, 2 small drawers). each boy has one big drawer and one small drawer for current clothes/socks/hats, and they each have one big drawer for things they are growing into. clothes LO#1 grow out of I just move up a drawer into LO#2's 'growing into' drawer. and new clothes I buy LO#1 that are too big go in his extra drawer too.

within the drawers I use the box dividers from ikea! they are amazing. sometimes I don't fold the clothes. haha...

@mrs. 64: Thanks!

We hang up all dresses and rompers. Then some sets. But drawers are: pants, pj's tops, short and bathing suits. We have a hanging shoe organizer for socks and shoes. But I am going to switch it to socks in drawers and then shoes in the closet. Just have to figure out what to put them in.

Drawers, but they're currently a mess. We'll be getting a new dresser for him which has more drawers (our current dresser just has three long drawers, the new one has 7 drawers), so I'm hoping to be better organized!

I have a basket for socks and underwear, another basket for pants, and another basket for pjs. I find that this works for us. The more baskets we have, the more disorganized we get.
