My parents were very supportive because they, too, agreed it was the only way. My MIL was adamantly against it and was banned from out home while we nap-trained because she would rescue LO at the first sign of a cry.

I doubt they know I even let him CIO. It's not their business.

I'm not into CIO (at this point - 8 months) and thankfully we feel like his sleep is good enough that we're not looking to sleep train at all. He goes 7pm-6am with 3-4 wake-ups to eat.

My parents mention letting him CIO constantly. "Well, someday you'll just have to let him cry...." I don't know why they keep bringing it up! I never even complain about his sleep!

My mom does not like it. She understands why I did it but anytime LO cries she feels SO bad for her and wants to help her. If I leave her with her they will not let her cry to sleep instead they just keep her up so that she gets really overtired and I will have to deal with her. MIl on the other hand is very good at doing what we want her to do.

My parents are constantly telling me I need to let LO cry (this is all over the phone because they live far away). But any time they are with her they pick her up the SECOND she cries.

My mom can't handle it. If he's even just fussing a little, she wants to go get him. My dad on the other hand is all for CIO. My inlaws can handle it better than my mom, but still aren't fans.

She's all for it... she told me once that I cried for 6 hours straight and my dad told her that's what they have to do to teach me how to sleep. This was back in the early 80s and I don't know if she was exaggerating or not!! 6-hours mom!? Really?!

My parents aren't a fan of CIO, but like @Weagle they see that LO falls asleep pretty quickly, so it's not a big deal.

They are not a fan of LO crying at all. However, once they saw that she fusses for <2 minutes (if at all) then goes right to sleep, I think they realized that we're not leaving her to scream herself to sleep. They definitely would go in there within 30 seconds.

Haha well, when LO was 4 weeks old, my dad informed me I should let him CIO because that's what they did with me. That as long as I was fed and clean, they'd just let me cry myself to sleep. At 3 weeks old.

*shrug*

ETA I don't have a problem with CIO, just wasn't comfortable with it when he was so little! We'd probably do it now that he's over 3 months though.

my parents are fine with it, because when they raised me and my sister, letting babies cry it out was pretty normal. i'm thankful, because if they disagreed and made comments, i would feel so insecure and torn.
