She tried to corral the groundhog to my DH, and she was so proud. He was less than thrilled, however ;)</p> <p>I would NOT do well with watching her kill anything. Really, she would just want to play with them and get incredibly sad if she accidentally killed them. She LOVES trying to catch bugs, and she's really pretty good at it, but she loses interest when they don't want to "play" with her anymore (because they're now dead). Our pup killed a squirrel at six months. I witnessed it all and totally freaked. My husband was proud. She also caught a little chipmunk, but just carried it around in her mouth. She finally dropped it and we made sure it was okay. There was a nest of baby squirrels outside of our apartment this spring, and she came thisclose on more than one occasion. She has, however, cornered a groundhog, almost caught a baby deer, found a mouse in my parents' house, discovered a rat under our porch, chased three full grown turkeys up a tree, and had more close encounters with baby bunnies and chipmunks than I can count. But she always wants the squirrel :silly:</p> <p>@Pepper: thank you! We bought it last year, and at the time, it seemed maybe a little silly, because she already had a fleece. But this one is waterproof and so much nicer. I am SUPER glad we got it this year! Also, it helps her to not blend in when she runs in the woods in the snow. First thing in the morning our male (he's a bit of a dummy) doesn't like getting too cold. In the past I've opened the door, he sticks one paw in the snow and then starts to pee all over my kitchen floor! He then looks at me like "But mommy I'm outside! See my foot here?" Our guy will be 4 in the Spring and still gets "is he a pup"? I compete in agility with him and dog people give me stink eye because they think I am competing a pup (not allowed to compete them til 18m+). He runs through it and just has a blast, but we had -15 degree weather with a wind chill of like -55 yesterday...he did not enjoy having to go to the bathroom outside. The worst part was we live in an apartment so I had to go out with him. It sucked. This morning he came out of our bedroom to see if DH was still here then he walked right back in and jumped in our bed to warm up. It was adorable.</p> <p>My cat actually climbed up a mattress we have stored against a wall so he could sleep directly under a vent. A couple of nights ago, our little boy went out through his dog flap and came rushing back in seconds later, shaking the water off his coat...... we laughed and laughed...... until he squatted on the rug right in front of us and went to do a poop slap bang in the middle of it!!! GASP! Needless to say, he was sent back out immediately and he was a soggy doggy when he had finished his business! </p>
