Agree with others. Give at least 20%. I usually round up if 20% is a weird number (I've also been going to the same woman for years, so I want to show her my appreciation for the great job she always does). I usually give in cash and I know that's preferred. But, if all I have is my card, I don't stress.

20% plus $3-5 for the girl that washes my hair (depends on the salon).
I always do cash. They usually have little envelopes up front.

My current salon (and the one I went to previously) don't allow it on a card, the tip has to be cash. And friends who are hairdressers have said that even if a salon allows, they vastly prefer when it is given as cash. I do 20% to my stylist and if someone else washes my hair I give them a few dollars too. That only happens at my salon if my stylist is super backed up but it can be the norm at some salons. If my stylist walks me to the front, I hand it to her. If she sends me to the front alone I give it to the receptionist (all of the stylists have envelopes at the desk for tips to be put in).

Honestly, even though it might be awkward, I would just ask their preference. They will appreciate it.

I usually just do 20 percent. Salons either add it to your total or have a space on the receipt for a tip, but I usually just ask to be sure. Enjoy!

Lol! I usually tip $10 when I’m getting just a cut (around $40-$50 value). Whether they let you tip on the card depends on the salon. When I’ve had to tip cash they usually have envelopes at the front when you check out. If i know the person pretty well i might just hand it to them after the service.

I’m getting my first haircut in years. I’ve only had a handful of “real” haircuts in my life. How does the tipping part work? Cash? Card? Who do I give it to? When? Please explain as if I’m 4; many 4-year-olds are probably better informed than I am.

Thank you!
