@snowjewelz: I definitely want to talk to her about all that stuff! I wonder if I'll be flustered in the moment. This is so new for me! Nap time... Interesting you bring that up! This is one of the main reasons I have pushed him towards one nap. Just because he's a bit challenging to put down and before his second nap would be right around the time I leave. Luckily that part seems to be working. I am so excited to potentially have the other day to get stuff done!

@T.H.O.U.: thank you!

@mrsrain: appreciate that thanks! :heart:

Sounds like a great plan too! Love that you can get some free time to do things by yourself! Hope it goes well!

Did she have just one reference? I'd talk to her about how she handles different situatons. What your expectations are, like if she can take LO to park herself, or need your permission, what she can feed, etc? Is that too detailed?

Would her time w/ LO run into nap time? If so maybe talk about what you would like her to do during down time?

It sounds like a great plan! I like the idea of offering her an extra day through the week (and maybe its flexible) so that you can get more things done and she gets more hours.

Interviewing/meeting with a potential part time nanny tomorrow. On Fridays, DH works until around 5 and I leave for work at 2. So it's only 3ish hours, but one, our friends and family coverage has been too unreliable and stressful, and two, it will be great to have someone to call on hopefully for other days!
I am actually thinking of asking her for a regular other day of a similar length of time to help out so I can get stuff done! Like appointments, straightening up, organizing, shopping, etc. I think this will also help our 1yo adjust, because he's only really been with us, aside from a few weeks with a friend babysitter (overall not a great experience) and my parents a couple times. So, a few questions...

1. I know there are a million posts on interviewing potential nannies, but anything I absolutely can't forget and might not think of? I already checked a reference.

2. Does this sound like a good plan if it works for her and I like her? Tomorrow, Tuesday, she comes over for a bit to just get to know us, interview, just get a general vibe and introduce her to my son. Then, ask her if she can come one more day either Wed/Thurs, and go on an outing together just like walking to the park or something. I would pay her for her time this day, of course. Then, assuming again all goes well, she will come Friday for her first official day!
