Ugh, they terrify D. He goes into total anxiety mode. During the last storm we had, we had to take him down into the basement so he couldn't see the lightning out the window. It makes me so sad because I LOVE thunderstorms!

Took my 9mo out in the carport today during a (small) storm for the first time today, and she loved it! She loves wind, so I'm not surprised. We stuck her out in the rain some, and she loved that too. She looked around at the thunder but didn't seem alarmed.

She's fine with them. I don't want to pass on my fear of storms, so we really play down the scary thunder sound. The other night she woke up because she pooped and she heard the thunder and asked what it was. I told her it was thunder and it was no big deal, and she giggled as she said, "That thunder's crazy!" She went right back to sleep.

My girls haven't really experienced many...the ones they have haven't woken them up. DD1 was born during one of the worst typhoons in history for the place we lived - maybe that set her storm expectations high?

Now that I think about it, I'd be nervous about a bad storm in our current home. We have some enormous, old trees in our backyard that have nowhere to go but the roof if they fall.

No way. Neither care that much. I was never afraid. I always loved them. My best friend is terrified of them. She still slept with her parents in high school if they were bad enough. I cannot relate at all.

No, he isn't afraid. But he asks a zillion questions and likes to mention the thunder and lightening. I play the storms off as no big deal/nature doing it's thing. He's 2.5.

We've had a couple of thunderstorms this week, and luckily it doesn't bother the girls. They will ask 'what's that?' but they don't get afraid. I was never afraid of them growing up either, I actually really enjoyed them as a kid. I did have some friends that were really afraid of them though, so I know it's not an uncommon fear.

Is your LO afraid of thunderstorms? How old are they?
