I actually read this really interesting article once on art development in kids, and it discussed how nearly every toddler begins with that "blob" drawing initially, and there are different stages kids progress through. She does a little circle for a nose and a line for a mouth. Arms and legs come out of the big circle and she scribbles circles on the ends for hands and feet. She also adds a scribble at the top for a "minnie bow" and two circles for minnie ears. Our pedi told us that a 3 year old draws "potato people" (eg.
