I try to limit my work travel to as few days in a row as possible. DH does a great job, but it's incredibly stressful for him. He also works a ton of hours, so doing everything for DD in addition to work is a lot for him.

I do really strongly appreciate that DH is able to step up and take care of DD for days in a row without too much trouble, but I feel guilty for leaving town so much. I wonder if DH would feel as guilty if the roles were reversed.

Following. I'm considering a position that has a small travel component and DH acts like it's NBD...

He deals with it ok, but he gets to WFH 3x a week and has a really short commute. He's also just a really easygoing guy in general so few things faze him.

I'm traveling at the moment. DH is doing fine so far. He normally works 10 hours a day but he shortens his work day or works from home so he can do pick up & drop off. I have no idea what they are eating.

Today is daycare picture day. Daycare texted to ask if they could put her in a different outfit but they probably would have done that to me too.

I have been a nanny for dad's in this spot and usually it means lots of takeout. Some have been fortunate enough that they can work from home for a few hours a day so they would leave work early to relieve me do the evening with the kids, put them to bed and work 2-3 more hours.

Is it possible to get someone to help with either drop off or pick up for an hour or two each day? It might be all that's needed to make it an easier week.

We don't have any LO's yet, but DH has no problem with it when I have to travel. I think he actually likes the peace and quiet! haha. The longest I've been away was a month and he played games, watched tv, and had the dog for company. On the other hand, I HATE when he has to travel and hate being at home by myself.

He does ok, I think. We have a nanny, so she just comes a little earlier and leaves a little later than normal. I've usually made food for her and picked out clothes ahead of time. I actually like that it forces him to be home earlier from work than he would be otherwise (is that bad?).

I'm not traveling for work, but I'm leaving tomorrow and won't be back till Sunday, so I guess I will find out! LO is going to a Bright Horizons drop-in daycare that his job pays for (20 days a year), and he's going to be doing drop off and pick up.

Plus he'll have to pack all the daycare stuff clothes/food/sippies. And it's going to be two long days for LO because DH doesn't get home from work till 7 pm or so and he'll have to leave work early just to get her before they close.

Aaaaannnnddd....it's the 3rd Friday of the month, which is a very busy time for DH at work since options expire every 3rd Friday. Ugh.

Poor DH and LO.

He works a little from home in the AM and PM to make his days easier. I usually leave a casserole in the fridge for them and make sure the fridge is stocked. Otherwise, they just manage! it's a little more hectic than usual and the house is always messier when I come home, but it's not a big deal.

Meanwhile, DH is on travel this week and it is definitely no big deal for me. I've been doing a little work from home in the morning, which helps a ton.

I've never gone for more than a night or two, so he takes it well and thinks of it as an adventure. Any more than that and we'd have to call in backup help because his schedule is crazy.

Blargh. I have to go to NY in a couple of weeks. I hate traveling and missing the time with my girl but I really hate what it does to my husband. His commute is 45 minutes so he has a long day when he drops her off and picks her up. It's also a long day for her. I'm sure his blood pressure and stress levels go up, as well. Tack on "Mommy, mommy, mommy, eh mommy?" and that doesn't help. So, he doesn't deal well with it, which is why I don't travel much anymore (and I'm totally okay with that).
