It was an experiment at first and we've grown to LOVE it. We have 2 refrigerators and a 20 cubic foot chest freezer (I'd love to get another chest freezer as well once we start raising pigs...). All of our meat is either homegrown or purchased in bulk so I always have nearly every cut of meat in the house. We start the month with a lot of "fresh" meals- Tacos, salads, BLTs. As the month goes on we move more into "storage" meals- Chili, Soup, Mashed potatoes and Roasts. We eat fresh fruit in the beginning of the month and canned/frozen towards the end. In the summer we have a huge garden and I barely grocery shop. In the winter I buy a little more from the store, but we rely heavily on our canned foods and freezer. Of course we end up having to go a time or two in between to pick up things like milk, cheese or produce.
