We lived in different places... I hated walking to school alone and at another place I hated the bus. At another place the bus was torture and people would spit and throw things :( I had an older sister so that helped with the really bad bus situation because she drove us to highschool at least... it was 25 minutes but on the bus it was 2-3 hours!</p> <p>I hope to get a place where I can walk LO to her elementary. I lived in a rural area so no one walked, it was too far and there were no sidewalks anywhere. I took the bus to school (picked up at my house) and it took like 20 minutes I think because we had stops and it wasn't the most direct route there. My mom took me home after school. I could see my elementary school from my house. In junior high I took the school bus. The bus stop was about 3/4 mile from home and my dad dropped me off by car. Then the ride was about an hour to school. In high school, we lived 10-15 minutes away by car.</p> <p>Charlie will be walking to kindergarten -- it is 1/3 of a mile away. Most kids have to take public transportation to junior high or high school here (it's a matching system like medical school so you don't go to the closest school).</p> <p>How far did you live from school growing up?
