At 36 weeks with D2, I flew across the country for a wedding, but it was in the city from which I'd just moved, so I could have had the baby with my old OB if I went into labor early. Other than that, I'd stayed within an hour or two.

We're going down the shore when I'm 36 weeks, and that's about 2 hours away for a week. I'm totally ok with that. There are hospitals very near should anything happen.

I traveled with dh for work a couple days before lo2 was born (she waited till we got back home before I went into labor). . We had an in network hospital we could deliver at and family that lived nearby who could watch lo1. I wanted dh there if she was born so I was ready to have her at a different hospital.

i went apple picking two days before i went into labor at 35 weeks, and that was 2 hours away with no hospitals nearby.

it was my second so i would stay closer to home if it were my second since they come so much faster.

I don't plan on going anywhere more then 30 min away from my hospital after 36 weeks. We have had a few friends recently give birth before 40 weeks (Including one who's water broke at 27 weeks in Florida on their babymoon!) My husband doesn't want me going anywhere!

I went into labor with no warning at 37+3 with my DD, and had her in my arms in 6 hours. So if we have another, I won't be going far. A lot would depend on time of day, though, since traffic can get very bad here.

Depends on where you're going - if you were going to visit family and there were good hospitals nearby, I'd probably be ok with being 3 to 4 hours away. If you'd be going some place fairly rural (or having to travel through fairly rural areas without many cities/ hospitals nearby), I'd probably limit it to two hours away.

I never had any indications from my OB, but I would not go more than an hour away at that stage of pregnancy. I'm pretty cautious though (and wasn't high risk with either LO).

For my first birth (12 weeks ago)- I would have needed a really good reason to get me more than an hour away.

For future births: probably won't go more than 20 minutes from home after 36 weeks unless I have to. My first labor was 2 hours from start to finish.

I went into labor at 40w+2d with DS1, so I'd feel comfortable going up north to ILs first home (extended family visit) in the next couple of weeks, which is 1.5 hours away.
