I think between months 12 and 24, they usually outgrow shoes about once a season, so around every 3-4 months. I remember a Stride Rite employee telling me this when I got my eldest her first pair of shoes. I was crushed! My girls tend to have long feet and they grow fast that second year, so what he said was pretty true for us. But I do buy with room to grow and have had a few pairs last around 4-5 months. Once they hit 2yo, the growth slows down a little more...

I don't buy shoes a size up for this reason! When my son was about 18 months, he was in a size 5.5. By 24 months, he was in a 7. By 26 months, he was in 8. So there's no rhyme or reason and all styles/brands fit a little differently.

omg. I bought DS TOMS on the Zulily sale a few months ago and he was like a 3, maybe 3.5. I've heard that TOMS run a bit big, so I bought a 4, since he was in a 2/3 forever and it's like he completely skipped a size because now the 4s do not fit at all. I'm so sad, I bought them as summer shoes and he totally can't wear them.
I'd buy a size up for sure!

Here's a link the their printable size chart. You just type in the numbers on their site and it'll tell you the proper size and width.

DD is almost 11 months and I got her a size 6 early walker from Stride Rite. At first I thought it was too big, but after pulling out the inner sole and having her extend her little toes, it's not so bad. She definitely has room to grow, but she's barely taking steps now. If I were you, I'd buy a 6.5 or 7. The difference between them is really small when they're that little.

As I mentioned in another post, I just signed up for Zulily yesterday and today they're having a Stride Rite sale. When DH and I took H back in January to get his feet sized for his first pair of shoes (at 12 months old), we found out he was a size 5.5 wide. We just bought him a brand new pair of sandals from Target this past weekend in size 6. I would like to have another pair of shoes for H to grow into a little. The size 5.5 W shoes aren't uncomfortable but he's really close to the end. They've lasted about four months, are barely used and we're keeping them in case Em can use them. Should I go ahead and get him a size 6 or skip to a size 6.5?

How fast do little feet grow when they hit 16 months? He seems pretty set in his other clothes, sizing wise. Are feet similar?
