Hi! I asked my pedi about beating and fussing at the boob and she said it COULD be reflux. She asked if it happened at every feeding. Maybe ask about that? Our doctor won't treat it though, she said, unless it happens EVERYtime. DD gets fussy while nursing quite often. I burp her and then switch sides.

C was so slow-- it was at least 20 minutes each side most of the time. I used to say she likes to savor her meals.

The clawing thing just started recently at 5 months. Not so fun!

LO has always been super efficient. At that age she was nursing on one side for about 8-10 minutes.

I have low supply so our experience is not typical, but she usually nurses about 15-20 minutes per side and she nurses both sides every time. She has gotten a little more efficient as she has gotten older but she stays on nibbling, pretty much until I pop her off.

I think the fussing/clawing/etc is really normal at this age!

LO is 9 weeks old as well, and he nurses on one side for about 10-15 minutes. I never had hour long sessions with him unless he was going through a growth spurt.

She is 7 weeks, usually nurses on both sides and about 6 minutes per side on average!

@ms.janedoe: It sounds like she's just getting more efficient! Yay :)

LO is 9 weeks old and has been EBF for 5-6 weeks now. She used to take forevvvver to eat, but the past few days have been a different story.

It'll be time for a feed and I'll get her latched, and she'll be good for a little bit, but then end up suuuuper fussy, beat me with her tiny fists, and get cross. She'll usually fuss until I get her down for a nap after. Her diapers have seemed to be good (as far as number of wet/dirty), so I'm assuming she's getting enough, could she really just be eating that much faster?!

I kind of miss the old peaceful (NOT getting scratched/hit) hour long nursing sessions! ;)
