@artbee: that makes sense. Just wanted to toss that out there because I'm not sure I would have realized the connectionunder normal circumstances.

DS definitely does not go once a day an really only goes if we give him the opportunity(we EC) but our GI said that's fine as long as it's not hard or straining.

@anbanan15: I'm not really worried about allergies, she used to go once a day if that and now it's at least once a day, maybe twice. So it's really not that much, just more than before. I think it's what I'm feeding her. Like if she has apples, it'll be more liquidy.

They def smell worse! The consistancy varies, from pb to more firm. They are less loose than before solids.

My LOs have finally started changing. He has little nuggets sometimes, but he also has some that are more like a peanut butter texture. The biggest change is that they all smell soooo much!

Definitely not as frequent (we try to do pears/prunes often to prevent multiple days without) and they're definitely less liquidy. We've also had some of the peanut-butter like ones, and even some that are kind of like clay (on days he's getting "cleared out"). But the biggest change is the smell. UGH. I opened his diaper pail tonight and .... bleeeeeeeh.

Like peanut butter, sometimes with clumps, so gross.

@artbee: She goes more often and they are more liquidy? How long have your been giving solids? How is she otherwise?

I only ask because of the possibility of food allergies. I'm obsessed with DS's stools because of his allergy issues, and when he is reacting to something we see the more frequent, liquidy stools that are brighter in color. Otherwise, he only goes once every few days and it's more solid, but this transition happened even before we started solids and he has always been EBF. Color only really changed because of iron supplements.

We started solids at 6 mos when DS was still breastfed. He went through a short period of PB consistency poop, then to more solid stools that rolled so nicely off our cloth diapers. Then add antibiotics and a few months of non stop teeth to the mix, and we were back to 2+month of very liquidy poop. We give DS probiotics, and have tried everything we can think of to make his poop less liquidy. In the last week it's gotten thicker and now it's hit or miss if it's more solid or liquid.

I am not really bothered by poop at all, but I didn't think I'd spend quite as much time thinking about it as I do.

Sometimes I get soft turds that smell. But because she's mostly breastfed, still, her poos are often soft and smear-y - kind of like the texture of peanut butter.

LO started pooping mini logs after we started solids. Gone are the days of wet, EBF poops. I make sure to give her stage 1 puree'd pears to keep her regular.

So far I've heard that when babies start solids, a lot of them get constipated. But we're having the opposite issue..... she poo's more, and sometimes it's pretty liquidy. I also haven't seen any change of color yet. Maybe it's because she's not eating a lot of solids yet.

Has your LO's poo changed after eating solids?
