For the most part we love our day daycare center. It is in a church right by our house, lots of indoor and outdoor play space, the teachers have masters degrees, etc. But last Friday they sent DS home at 9:30am bc a "nurse" suspected he had pink eye, which he didn't. A couple of days later they made us take him home because his temp was 100.3, which our doctor says does not count as a fever. Then yesterday the same "nurse" called me and said he was breathing heavy. She got a little nasty when i explained that his doctor is currently treating him for this and he's fine. I think she was mad that she couldn't make me come pick him up.

I say "nurse" because she actually isn't a nurse but claims to have been one previously. She's curtently just a sitter at the daycare. I think she likes to go around "diagnosing" the kids and making parents come pick them up.

I like our center, no complaints there. I'm still struggling with the long commute with car-seat-hating LO, plus since LO commutes with me I don't get any of the "perks" of having a kid in daycare. Like if I'm sick? Daycare is an hour away so LO has to stay with me too. I can't take a day off or an afternoon off, or even pick up LO late to go to an appointment. That part sucks and will continue to suck.

I'm happy with it for now. We have a sahm that watches dd and she is wonderful. Dd gets to play with her kids and she does teach them a lot. I wonder if more structure would be good for her though. There are no good centers around here so it's just not an option.

So glad she is doing better!! @mediagirl:

Liam has a nanny 3 days per week and preschool 2 days. It is working out well, but the nanny's last day is this Friday until August!! I'm excited about being home with him, but nervous to add a baby to the mix soon.

I am mostly feeling good about daycare. DS (8 months) seems to really like his teachers and being around the other kids. He doesn't sleep much there, though he is a pretty terrible napper at home too.

I'm fed up with my daycare. I feel like they're constantly losing things and screwing things up. Luckily we'll be starting a new one in the spring that's being built right now. I hope that we like them better than the current one :-/.

My mom is still our primary caretaker! DS will start preschool in May and then I'll be on leave in July/Aug.

We love it and wouldn't change a thing! The last few weeks DH or I've been home more with the snow/weather and it's been nice to spend more time with DS and not having to waste time commuting, etc. to our offices. (the only upside to frigid cold winter).

We love our nanny share. I'm not looking forward to what will happen when it ends at the end of August and the other family moves back to their home (out of state).

We love our in home! We will probably be leaving her in a year and moving the kids to a center, though (the cost of two in an in-home is 2K a month, a center is closer to 1500), and I'm already sad about it. She is never upset to see T!

Eh. We have a nanny and I just returned to work on Monday from maternity leave. We are looking for alternate childcare options for the late summer/fall as I think DS needs more children his age around and also more of a learning environment.

Love it...she has a great group of friends she talks about non stop, I have to drag her out to leave every day, she's learning so many new things, and she's learning Spanish which I think is so cool!

What type of childcare do you use? How is it working out for you?

We recently switched to a different daycare. It took our daughter (2.5) a full month to feel comfortable there. She finally walks (eh hem, runs) in with a smile on her face. We love the new center and are so glad we moved her, even though it took a month for her to get used to it!!
