Our drive home is 5 minutes max but we went through a short phase where he was so cranky in the car! I would give him a small snack as soon as he was buckled in and that helped a lot. Sometimes I would let him have his lovey if he was really cranky.

Yep. Been there. Snacks, books, toys and singing songs. Also, I found my attitude made some difference. If I had a bad day at work, it was more likely to be a miserable drive home too.

Lo is 4 mths old and it depends on how she naps at day care. I usually sing songs to her and if she is tired, she will doze quickly and then she is in a pretty good mood when she gets home.

Naw you're not alone! G screams almost every day. I keep a couple toys in the car to try and appease her, but usually it's whine central the whole ride home.

Ever since she moved to two naps a day and doesn't take last cat nap, every day is different. Some days she is happy, some not so much. And it doesn't matter how she naps at day care.

Yep, our ride home is often awful. We've been playing very loud music (bubble guppies) and that has been helping a bit. We also help her pull the sunshade off the window and she plays with it.

When I pick my LO up I spend 10-15 minutes in her room playing with her and chatting with the teachers before I pack her up to go home. We even have a snack if I'm later than usual. Maybe having a longer transition time before you put her in the car will help?

How is your ride home from day care? Do you have any tricks for keeping LO happy?

People describe day care pickup as the best part of their day. I LOVE the smile LO (1 yo) gives me when I pick her up but driving her home is awful. She's so excited to see me and she can't understand why I would stick her in a car seat and abandon her right away. She screams the whole way home. I know it's worse when I do pick up than when DH does it so I don't think it's just LO being tired & hungry.

For the past two months I've been wearing her home but we switch day care in a couple weeks and it won't be possible then. We just switched to a convertible seat but that didn't change anything.

I haven't seen anyone post about this before. Am I the only one experiencing it?
