When sick I let her sleep when she wants to sleep, the schedule goes out the window. To me, sleep is most important to recoop. Yes it may screw us up for a bit, but I want her healthy!

Usually really well. She just zonks the hell out. But if she has an ear infection, if it's bad enough to wake her up, she wants to sleep upright and with us. Which is so, so rare. Not much phases her, thankfully.

It just depends. Since I've started rinsing their noses out with saline rinse (thanks, Neilmed!) throughout the day and right before bed they tend to have less congestion and can breathe better at night. My youngest does occasionally wake up in the middle of the night when he's sick but some water and a song will put him right back to bed. As for naps when they are sick, my oldest used to nap longer when he was younger; but my youngest is a short napper overall.

LO 1's sleep is not affected much and she still STTN and naps.

LO 2 wakes up when she is sick and has trouble staying asleep during coughing. She likes to be held a lot when she feels sick.

The only type of sickness LO has had so far (knock on wood) is a series of colds. She doesn't sleep that well when she has a cold because she has a hard time breathing, so she is up a lot crying and I usually end up holding her and rocking her while she sleeps so that she can be more upright laying on me. (I've tried putting blocks under one side of her crib but she rolls so much she always ends up upside down and that just compounds the problem...

My one year old has been sick since early yesterday morning. She napped for 5 hours (between two naps) yesterday but was up a lot at night. She woke up today after 9 and already wants to go back down for a nap. I figure if it helps her fight off whatever she has then I'll take the night wakings.

Does your LO tend to sleep or nap a lot when they are sick or are they the complete opposite?
