We have a pretty large playroom (its really the formal living room)

When you walk in the reading area and bean bag is on the left and the laptop and table is on the right.

We have 2 expedits full of games, toys, etc - I have each one labeled with a picture so they know whats inside.

Against the left wall is DD's doll house and then the train table

Back middle is the trampoline

Back right is for legos, blocks, plastic animals, cars, etc.

Middle right is craft table, art supplies and chairs.

One thing that has been revolutionary for us is some taller shelving. So most toys and books are very low to the ground but then art supplies and toys with small pieces are high enough that they have to ask for them. This was originally to keep the baby safe from accidentally picking up the small toys but we are going to keep it going forward because it forces us to clean up/ not take out too many things at the same time.

We use bins, I don't care what goes IN the bin, but the toys have to be off the floor at the end of the night.

We also have a train table, but wouldn't you know, the track is set up on the floor because the table isn't big enough for the construction my son likes to do, so I am trying to think of a solution (which may involve attaching a piece of ply wood to our current train table.

We have a coffee table in the living area that has bins underneath it as well.

It's not, ha. We have a smallish loft that we use as a playroom too and there's an old recliner in one corner and a Land Of Nod shelving unit on one wall and toys all over the place :)

Craft area w/ table & chairs (seating for 3 or 4 though to play board games)

Comfy seating in the reading nook like oversize chairs or floor pillows

Bin for dress up clothes or laundry rack to gang them up

Ikea shelves were already mentioned, to organize them though I'd label the bins & take a photo of the contents so cleanup time is easy. I'd give each girl her own bin too for their own specific unshared toys

Land of Nod blog, Lay Baby Lay have some colorful decorative ideas for play rooms and play spaces

One side has a storage area for toys with baskets and shelving from ikea and wooden toys stored on top. I have a little bookshelf and reading corner. There is a car rug I bought from IKEA and will be an art corner come Christmas.

You mean our living room? (ha) We actually bought a long storage ottoman and his toys are pretty well contained.

When we had more space, there is an IKEA shelf that is basically perfectly square and it holds most bins very nicely. It holds a ton, too. You can still display some things well out of reach while the lower two rows are very accessible. (Just securely attach it to the wall in case you have a climber.)

(Just looked it up, it was the Expedit series: http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/categories/series/09064/)

We have those cube shelves that are nice for storage, picture ledges hold a lot of books but don't take up too much space. We have a toy box that is good for bulky items. There is a closet in the playroom too, it's pretty small but has a few shelves where I keep bins of things such as: cars, little people, blocks, Legos, some art supplies, other bulky toys etc. I think what works best for us is keeping some things "tucked away". What about some type of art area with a little table and chairs?

We are using the loft as a playroom (21'x13') and "Santa's" gift is going to be a playroom make over. Right now, we just have all of the toys up against the wall w/o a lot of organization. I want to make it an inviting space to promote play for both girls. So far, I'm going to make a reading nook w/ canopy and a play store/market.

What else would be good to add? What are your tips for organizing?
