We have retired neighbors that start early in the morning, but both kids have sound machines and are up at 6:30. The sun sets around 8:30 here right now, so 8:30/9. At our old home our neighbor would start mowing at 10 pm - in the pitch black - we have no idea how he could even see what he was doing, it drove me nuts. I had a neighbor who worked odd shifts and he would mow his lawn very early in the morning. It was so annoying. Most people have a lawn service come in the area where I live now. They mow from 10 am -4 pm. My husband will usually mow until around 6:30-7 pm. Like maybe he starts around 8 or 8:30. He has a rider mower with lights on it. I think any time between 8am and 8pm is ok. The noise ordinance in our town is 10pm, but I feel as if common courtesy prevails in this situation. We live in a neighborhood where there are families with small children. I think we're all courteous of each other when it comes to this. Here the sunset is 8:30, so I would say until then is fine. Even though my daughter goes to bed at 8, I can't get mad because the sun is still out!
