LO rolled really well (both directions) by 5.5 months, and was sitting up unassisted around 6 months. I guess we practiced in that I would have him sit up in front of me/between my legs. He can't pull himself up to sitting from lying down yet.

Pretty much simultaneously. But he rolled late: 6.5m and then sat up. We did practice a lot. I don't think that kind of thing can be perfected (unassisted) without practice.

Around the same time actually! But she didn't learn to actually sit up until about 2.5 months after rolling! (Rolling belly to back at 2.5 months, back to belly and faster rolling at 5.5 months, sitting unassisted around 6 months, and sitting up on her own at 7.5/almost 8 months!)
ETA And her sitting got a lot better once she was getting into that position on her own.

LO started rolling around 3 months, and sat up unassisted at 4.5 months. We practiced sitting with him every day, and then one day he just did it on his own!

My LO rolled both ways after he could sit. We practiced sitting with him by sitting behind him so we could catch him if he fell. He loved sitting but was uninterested in rolling. He finally figured out rolling just shy of 7 months and then like a week later was getting himself into a sitting position all on his own.

@sorrycharlie: ohhhh okay...H rolls everywhere but not really doing downward dog yet....Her sleep is so crappy since she got excited about rolling, I don't know if we can handle another physical milestone just yet! I want to get some sleep soon:).

LO can sit well, but can't get herself to a sitting position yet. I was under the impression that once they can roll and start pushing up into a downward dog type deal, they figure out how to tip to the side and sit :)

He was rolling both ways around 4 months, but didn't sit unassisted until 6 months. He didn't just sit up one day, but worked towards it by reclining on his arm. We never practiced...he just figured it out on his own.

And did you practice a lot?

Or did you just look up one day and LO was sitting up?
