I got my epi at 10cm +3, lol.

my OB had my labor down for a half hour, then she was born 25 minutes after starting pushing.

so - an hour. but realistically it could have been minutes. we just chose to wait.

8.5 or more hours later, I was pushing. 10+ hours later I had a c-section. I had been at the hospital 29 hours at that point.
I was at 7cm when I got the epidural, so I was progressing slowly anyway.

With my first, she was born within an hour or so of getting the epidural, with my second, she was born within 45 minutes of getting it. I waited to get it until I was in transition with both. I actually think I was fully dilated when I got it with the second one, because I started feeling the urge to push as they were doing it. I was at 8 cm with the first one. Both were vaginal deliveries.

Asked for an epi when I first got checked at the hospital - it was 3:30 am and I was 6 cm. Didn't get the epi until around 5/5:30 am. I was checked again at 6 am and was at 10 cm then, started pushing about 6:15 am. DD arrived at 6:49 am. So I would guess I was pretty far gone by the time I actually got it, but since I wasn't checked at all in that time frame don't know exactly where.

I got the epi at 8 cm after 2 days of labor from first cramps, more than 24 hrs of painful contractions and about 9 in a row of terrible on the floor ones. Started pushing about 6-6.5 hrs later, but what made my labor so long was that my water didn't break. It broke while I was pushing!

My situation is a tad different because I was induced and according to the anesthesiologist, regardless of when I got the epi it wouldn't slow down my labor since my contractions were being controlled by the pitocin. They brok my water at 8:30am and started me on pitocin at 8am (2cm). I gig the epi at 10:30am (3-4cm). Fully dilated by 12:30pm and had to labor down until 4pm since DD was still stationed too high. 2 hours of pushing and she was born at 6:14pm.

I got my epi at 7cm after 7 hours of labor, 2 hours later I was at 10cm, I labored down for a little over an hour and then pushed for 3 hours. He epi didn't slow down my contractions at all. Even the nurse was surprised at how fast my contractions were still coming.

I got my epi at 7 cm and was pushing maybe 30-40 minutes later! My doctor thought I would be at least a couple more hours until pushing since I had such a slow labor, but in retrospect when I got my epi I was already starting transition. So really, I probably could have made it without the epi... but I kind of loved my epi in the end. It took away almost all of the pain, but left behind the other sensations, so I knew exactly when to push.

I started labor at 10 pm, got my epi around 6 am at 5 cm. I started pushing at 1 pm and had lo at 2:09 pm.

So so glad I had it! Since I went into labor in the middle of the night I was exhausted, had no sleep, and really needed that rest. It only took an hour to push lo out and I don't think I would have done it so quickly if I didn't have my sleep /strength.

I got the epidural at 5cm, after about 17 hrs of early laborious and 4 hrs of active. I got it at 4am, by 9am I was 9cm. Then it stopped working and it took my an hour and a half of laboring without it to get to 10. They fixed the epi then and let me rest half an hour before pushing, and I pushed for 2hrs. So 9 hrs from the first dose until delivery.

I got my epi at 10 cm (yeah, still wrestling with that decision), and it totally stalled labor. I was at 10 at 7:30am and started pushing at 2pm. Contractions got really irregular, and I had to get pitocin to get them going again just so I could push.

I got the epidural when I was only 3.5cm dilated! I felt like such a failure, but then again, my contractions had been going on for 15 hours beforehand. I was HOPING it would relax me enough to dilate more, but it took FOREVER....I got my epidural at 2:30PM and didn't push until 4:30AM!! >_< BUT, when the epidural was working, it was MAGICAL!!!!! My only consolation was that it only took me 20 minutes to push, but it felt more like 10 minutes to me!

I felt my first contraction around 4:30 am and got an epi at 10 pm. I was 5 cm I think and having contractions every minute. I started pushing at 6 am and pushed for 3.5 hours. They also gave me pitocin at some point so I guess I wasn't dilating fast enough.

So to my understanding, sometimes the epi can relax a mother and get her to dilate quickly...but sometimes it does the exact opposite and stalls the labor.
How long after the epi did you start pushing and at what point (how many hours in and how many cm) did you get the epidural?

*this is just to gather data as I am still on the fence with the epi (leaning towards it majorly)
