In a park, at 2 pm, and we bbq'd. Burgers, black bean burgers, chips and salad. Easy and delicious. We had a lovely time.

Brunch sounds like a great idea! We are planning to do 2 hours for my little guy's first birthday - I like to put a specific time window on invites (rather than just a start time) to discourage guests from over staying, although most parties end up going a bit longer. Thinking about doing 3-5 and serving appetizer finger foods.

@Thehistoryofus: I think we're leaning towards that. Easy peasy and cheap!

My LO's party was a brunch, it started at 11. I served a couple of quiches, bagels with cream cheese (lox, plain, and herb), a meat and cheese tray for sandwiches, a spring salad, pasta salad, a yogurt bar with granola, fruit, and nut toppings, and for dessert cake and a candy bar.

I don't remember how long it lasted. It was at our house so people stayed awhile, LO ended up napping through most of it and people still stayed and chatted. The kids even played with all of her new toys.

We had it at home and served burgers and hot dogs. The party started at noon I believe.

We had it at home and got it catered from Le Pain Quotidien. It was simple: a variety of their tartines, a couple of different salads, a Mediterranean platter, fruit, and dessert. I put 11 am - 1 pm on the invite because DD naps around 1 pm but mostly everyone stayed for longer and DD took her usual nap just fine, even though it was so noisy in the house.

How long was your Los birthday party? What was the start time?

What did you serve food wise?

Thanks!
