I very much subscribe to the theory that "you should begin as you plan to continue." I always hold on to her and she usually asks if we can hold hands while she uses the bathroom. She's terrified of the toilet itself (I think maybe the sound it makes when it flushes scared her when she was little). Now, she typically uses the big potty unless the bathroom is occupied and she really needs to go (we only have one bathroom) so she will use the little potty then.</p> <p>We also have one of those potty seats for the big one, but she rarely uses it. However, she's still terrified if I try to put her on the big potty, so when we go out she's back in diapers.</p> <p>Any tips for helping her transition to the big potty so that she can still use it when we go out? How did you handle this? It really bugs her to go in her diaper now so she tries to hold it the entire time we're out until we get home and she pees a ton. I know that can't be good for her. :/ </p>
