The breast milk breaks down the cereal so it won't be thick like it needs to be. My son needed thickened liquids and they told us to use it within 30 min after mixing.

@winniebee: I would think that would be fine! Give it a sniff before you give it to him, but I'd use it!

I don't know for sure, but the milk itself should be fine in the fridge for 6-8 days (assuming it wasn't previously frozen). Not sure about once you mix it with cereal though. I'd probably give it the same lifespan as other pureed foods though and say 2-3 days. If it was me, I'd try to use it today if you can.

How long is breastmilk mixed with rice cereal (refrigerated) good for?

We mix rice cereal into Rs bottles (on recommendation of his pediatric GI doc) to help with his spit up. I made a bottle yesterday for a sitter and he didn't touch it. I am finding conflicting info on how long it's good for? I have only a precious 2 bottles pumped so I really want to use it.

Thanks!
