I think it's doable! Just switch it up between front/back, adjust as soon as something doesn't feel right, and bring ally our carrier options!

I could wear all day but my girls all fuss to get out after a couple hours. They love being worn but love their freedom to run off more.

I think you'll be fine! We travel a fair amount with our 22 month old and we have never flown with a stroller, we always just bring a carrier. Just NOW has it started to get harder and my husband has had to trade off with me more, but she's gotten a lot heavier the last few months! Back carries are the only way to go for long periods of time!

I think you will be fine, especially for just two days. It will help if you remember to engage your core muscles and pull your abs toward your spine. Also, wear supportive shoes! As long as you and baby both get breaks to stretch and change positions it should be great. And maybe your SO could just carry baby in arms for 10 minutes if you needed a rest?

I agree about the versatility of wrapping! You can change up the carry you're using to give different muscles a break. If you aren't wrapping, do you have multiple carriers (SSC, mei tai, ring sling, etc., or even just different brands of the same type of carrier)? Changing it up periodically definitely helps me get through long stints of wearing. Or you could alternate between front and back carrying. In any case, I think 6 hours a day definitely sounds doable. Good luck!

@Ms. RV: what kind of carrier will you be using? I can carry all day but I wear 5+ hours often. My little guy is 28 pounds at 2.5. I prefer to wrap, it allows me change up how I wear him. It keeps him and myself comfortable.

@peachykeen: Luckily, it will mostly be slow walking on pavement so I think that will help. Standing still is the worst.

@pastemoo: Unfortunately, only I will be able to wear her. OH had degenerative disc disease and can't babywear due to the location of his bad discs.

I think 6 hours is totally doable with a back carry, at least. Once DD got to be >20 lbs I really struggled with a front carry for any amount of time. Even now at 25-26 lbs, I can generally carry her for several hours in a back carry, though I do get sore if we do a lot of standing still without walking.

@Ms. RV: Work your way up to it (try a 3hr day soon), and have an alternate person who is capable of wearing with that carrier. You will be fine.

I'm currently a nanny for a 15 lb 4 month old who doesn't sleep well when set down and also bring my cuddly, very attached 20 lb 11 month old to work with me. Needless to say, I do a lot of babywearing. I think 6 hours per day is totally doable! It sounds like you have a good plan for both of you to stay comfortable.

We are going on a trip in a month that, based on the activities, would be a pain to do with a stroller. I almost always wear LO (who will be about 20lbs by our trip) but the longest I have gone recently is two hours at once. Not sore at all. This trip will involve two days of wearing for about six hours a day. I plan to take breaks and wear on my back except for naps which will be on my front.

Any other tips for logging a lot of babywearing hours in a day? Is six hours too long per day?
