The fever lasted three days, and the cough started on the third day and then we got liquid steroids for him. He had to take two doses over three days and it calmed down within about five days in total. The croup cough turned into a sort of dry insistent coughing attack that would happen once a day. So we gave him a second dose under the guide from our doc. Good luck, it was so not fun but hopefully your LO comes out of it soon. She is handling it ok now but I'm so scared for my three month old. The coughing past only lasted several days. The first time she was under 2 and had to just wait it out. Ours was just a few days for the fever part. Mayne two weeks of coughing. I try to remember that the fever is helpful. Talked to a nurse this morning and it sounds like this can just happen to some kids, but lo has never had a fever this long and it's starting to scare the crap out of me! </p>
