@MsMamaBear: We toilet-trained with an entirely carpeted house. Get some Bac-Out--it eliminates stains and smell! Also, if you cloth diapered, get out the inserts, they do a good job of absorbing pee on carpet if you press them down.

Also, I don't want to sound discouraging, because it sounds like things are going really well, but it can take a while (months) for children to be fully trained. LO showed some interest, so we did the naked thing, we tried potty sits (they never worked), we tried a little potty (he didn't care for that so we went straight to a seat on the toilet with a stool for his feet), we tried stickers (to no avail), we had some successes and lots of accidents (almost all pee, thank goodness!), and eventually we prevailed. When the accidents happened, we cleaned them up and moved on. He ended up fully day trained after a few months of that at around 2.5 yrs old. Stick with it and remember that no one fails! :)

My best tip is to figure out when your child usually pees/poops. I think poop is easiest to catch, frankly, because it's often after they've eaten. I either watched LO like a hawk for any sign something was coming, or I tried to engage him in some activity that could be done near the bathroom after meals. Our house is tiny and there are two bathrooms, so it was pretty easy to keep him near one. Then it was just a matter of getting him in and seated.

Also, out-of-the-house training can be done sequentially. We stuck to doing it just at home for a while and just explained that he got a diaper for going out if it was a longer trip--under an hour or so and I just risked it. Once I started to realize how long he typically went between bathroom breaks and was more comfortable that he was giving me a little lead time in telling me he had to go, I just dropped the diapers and carried a towel around. I never used it. Things went really well once he was wearing underwear outside the house. It was like the switch flipped. I think the underwear is the key. It's clearly no fun to have wet pants!

@sloaneandpuffy: That seems to be helping a LOT! I sat her on it and only a drop came out, but she said pee-pee, so she's getting it. lol

@Honeybee: I went and bought a pack of pullups.lol I plan to use them outside the house and maybe nighttime. She wears a tshirt and training underwear or just the underwear. The house is carpet, so trying to avoid too much getting on the carpet.lol

@Mrs. Twine: My mom said something along the same lines! I'm more relaxed than I was the first three days. She'll get it, I just needed to relax.

I think my biggest tip is just to remember that toilet learning is something that we parents can't control too much. I've found that the more we "get in the way" and force the issue the less success happens. All kids, barring medical issues, will learn to use the toilet. If you provide the tools (a potty to use, knowledge of what others in the household who use toilets do, a way to make the connection between feeling the urge to eliminate and doing so), they will get there. I taught in a 2-3 year-old room for two years before Ellie was born and had the opportunity to participate in many kids' toilet learning processes (as well as Ellie's, obviously). It seemed like the parents who met their child's interest with a matched level of support got the best results. Sounds like she is headed in the right direction!

I don't know if you're up for keeping your LO naked, but we had pretty fast success with that method. It took DD about a day of being naked and having accidents to get it, and by the third day, she wasn't having accidents anymore. I also pull-ups are a crutch, lol, but we did use them at night and on long car trips; they might not help with potty training, but they're just so convenient!

@MsMamaBear: We put the potty in the living room. It's only recently, after a few months, that we moved it into the bathroom.

Well, today all the accidents have been while she's running to the potty, so she's getting where to go, so that makes me feel a little better.

@sloaneandpuffy: Did you bring the potty into another room or just used a phone or tablet?

Andrea: I'll look into the watch. She certainly likes the App with hearing "I'm a big kid now!"

@MamaBehr: If she doesn't get a little further Saturday, I'm going to wait a while and see if that helps.

I started with DD one weekend, and we weren't that successful. So, I stopped, put her back in diapers, and just waited. It was about two weeks or so later when she decided she wanted to try to go in the potty again. After she told me she was ready to go in the potty, it happened fast. At one point I even remember her saying "Mommy, I have to go pee" and I said "Go, you are wearing a diaper," that's when I knew she was super ready.

This was my experience:

http://www.hellobee.com/2012/12/20/three-day-potty-training/

Maybe try the potty watch? It goes off at set intervals so she might find that fun? My LO really liked her "first watch"! :-)

I did every 30 min at first, might as well! And we did use pull-ups when we had to go out, like to church and other stuff we couldn't miss. But we'd always take the potty too. We didn't do three-day -- we use pull-ups at night. We also let him watch videos while he was sitting there so that kept him seated.

@artbee: Me too! It's NOT fun! LOL!

@sloaneandpuffy: I was sitting her on there every hour, but then today I started every 30 mins. It seems like a lot, but since I'm off, I'm able to sit around and do it all day. Every time she waits til about 10 mins after and goes. Maybe I should do it every 40 mins. I showed her stickers and told her when she would get one, it may work, at least I hope so. I think pull ups are a crutch, I know it sounds bad,lol but I think I'm going to get some. I can't take being stuck at home like we have been with this 3 day potty training mess. We'll just use pull-ups outside the house.

Dear sweet potatoes. We started potty training Sunday and I'm in a constant state of stress. I'm using cloth trainers from Carter's on Amazon, so she feels the wetness, but it holds it in.

http://www.amazon.com/Carters-Girls-Rainbow-Training-Multi/dp/B004YJCTEI/ref=sr_1_10?ie=UTF8&qid=1373401553&sr=8-10&keywords=cloth+trainers

I'm not able to catch her before she goes, it's always after. THEN she runs for the hills when I change her underwear, although I'm always positive and saying everyone has accidents. I also use the pull ups app and she's interested in that, but that's about it. When I put her on, never never uses it.

Help with some tips and pointers, please! lol
