He got it instantly. </p> <p>I went out and bought a straw sippy cup and there was no learning required...he just got it. But I recently read an article that said sippy and straw cups are not necessary and aren't really "necessary" as far as development goes--you can just switch to using a regular cup if you want. Maybe try sucking some up to the tip of the straw and giving it to him so he doesn't have to suck as hard to get the liquid? Just so he understands the purpose... If that makes sense, haha. I was shocked.</p> <p>My theory is that since birth he was watched me drink out of camelbak bottles which have a similar spout. He loves to mimic, so I have tried to show him how it works and he will put the straw in his mouth but won't suck. He likes to drink out of a cup the traditional way (if I hold it up to his mouth for him) so I tried a sippy cup but he won't drink from that either.</p> <p>Should I just keep offering at every meal? Any tips on helping him learn to suck from it? </p>
