I had a midwife appointment today to follow up from a ER visit last light for fluids and mentioned it’s taking an awful long time for my sample to reach San Francisco! She said she would check my chart and then oh- they’re back! I was 28 at the time but I have seizure disorder and an autoimmune disease so Amniocentesis was offered (and strongly advised) for me. The turnaround for test results was two (AGONIZING) weeks. I received a phone call with the results and my OBGYN went over them with me at my following appointment.</p> <p>With my DS, we were living in HI. I was 34 while pregnant and high risk due to my health, as well as, having had preeclampsia in my previous pregnancy and early edema with DS. With so many issues, Amniocentesis was "GREATLY" advised. The procedure was completed at Tripler Military Hospital and results were through a close lab. It took less than a week for me to receive a call from the physician with the results and an extra two days for my physical copy of the results.</p> <p>If I do [ever at this point ... STILL TRYING] fall pregnant again, it is mandatory at the OBGYN offices that I use that women over 35 or with serious health conditions must have Amnio. All other women are given the option of using the Counsyl prelude test.</p> <p>Best of luck in whatever you decide! I’m not 35 but given I had a loss in April, my midwife recommended I do the Counsyl prelude test. I had my blood drawn today at 11 weeks. Curious other’s experiences and I know there are a few brands out there! </p>
