We started at my RE office in March of last year :( we and all testing HSG and SA done before by ONGYN first month I had to take Provera to get my period for CD3 b/w once we got that squared away, I had a few cysts that needed to go away that cycle and I also had to get my heart murmur checked.....so by May we started Gonal,-f for our first IUI :) but that was canceled due to too many follicles maturing!

I started a new cycle right after meeting with the RE in May, got all of our blood work done, DH met with the urologist and I started on Clomid in July (same cycle that began in May).

She was ready to start right away. My ob had already ordered all the diagnostics (blood, us, hsg, sa) and had me try two unmonitored cycles of Clomid so when I saw the RE she was ready to just stay trying. She did a u/s that first meeting to see if I had any follicles going. I think I was cd22 saying that if I didn't, we could start higher dose of Clomid that day. But I had a good sized one so we let that cycle play out to see if I would get lucky. I didn't do we did Clomid monitored with ovidrel next one.

@littlek: I didn't vote because it's still to be determined. But, after my first visit, it was decided that I should do IUI with injectables. However, as you may know, he found some endometrial cysts on my ovaries on my Day 3 ultrasounds, so things are put on hold at the moment. I will be undergoing laparoscopy on Thursday. So, I guess, if that's considered treatment, it was only one cycle.

About three cycles, I think. So many tests and appointments! Wish we'd known in advance. Things might be a lot different now that IF isn't covered under our new insurance. :(

I can't really count by cycles because I didn't have one. But I can tell you how much time there was between our initial appointment and first treatment.

The first RE we saw did some blood tests our first cycle with him. So we had our appointment at the end of June and by early July we started our first round of Clomid. We did 5 cycles with him before we switched RE offices.

The second RE we saw actually did more tests so we had our appointment at the end of March but didn't start our first cycle until the end of May.

I voted two cycles. I got referred to my RE partway throught my November cycle and had a consultation with her. Then we waited until the next cycle to do the HSG and SA (b/w was done with my OBGYN). Then we finally started treatment the following cycle, although that was canceled partway through because I didn't respond to the level of meds we started with. So I guess technically this current, 4th cycle with my RE, is the first cycle where we've actually carried out the full treatment plan. Things seem to move slow in RE-land!

first time around about 2 cycles - like you my testing didn't work out perfectly to line up.

second time around I got lucky and got an RE appt that ended up on CD3 so they did what they needed that day and I was able to start things after that cycle.

it's super annoying to wait when you're ready to move forward!!

I didn't have regular cycles so when I went in I hadn't had a period in several months. They were able to give me a PCOS diagnosis right then. So they just induced a period and we started with Clomid after my period.

It took us a year but we had some MFI issues and DH needed a TESE (one got cancelled due to a snow storm) and then I needed fibroid surgery - well then too much time elapsed and my fibroids grew back so I needed surgery AGAIN before starting IVF..... it sucked

It took one month to do all the testing, but since I was partway through a cycle when I finally got to first see the RE (which by itself took 4 months after seeing my doctor and getting some blood work with him) it took more like 1.75 months to finish the diagnostic stage. Then I ended up waiting another month just for results, then because of holiday closures I was having to wait ANOTHER month before finally starting treatment.

@littlek: I did testing (including HSG), Parlodel to treat high prolactin and three rounds of Clomid all with my OBGYN. My OB didn't do monitoring, though, and while I liked him, it was generally not getting us any closer to being pregnant. So we saw an RE at the 2 year mark, he said our best chance was IVF and we just moved straight to that. No IUI at all.

I voted more than three. We got our referral in April 2013 but we were going to pay for everything out of pocket is we waited until August. Got our blood work done then waited until January for HSG when our new insurance would cover it. Doc recommended clomid for the next cycle after HSG. I think had we not had to save to play for everything we would have only waited like 2 cycles before starting treatment.

I voted more than 3, but that was really our doing, not the doctor's. We met with him in late February and did IVF in August (started meds at beginning of July). We planned it that way because we had a big vacation planned for the end of June and we wanted my sister to have a chance to do her IVF cycle before us.

If we had gone straight from the RE appointment into IVF without that long wait, it would have been at least 2 cycles (depending on when AF arrived) in order to get everything done and get on the books for the next IVF round at the clinic.

I voted more than three, but we wasted two cycles paying off my HSG. My insurance said it was covered 100%, and it wasn't. My REs policy is no treatments/appts until balance is paid in full, so.. Wasted time :/

I think my first appt with them was in June, and I started clomid I December. So, six months with two wasted while we paid off a bill.

We met with our RE on CD5, there are soooo many tests to get done. So far, I have gotten my HSG, blood work (overall), DH semen analysis. Unfortunately since we saw him CD5, I have to wait until AF arrives to re-do my CD3 bloodwork. So, it looks like it will be a total of 2 cycles before we can start treatment. It bums me out but DH and I will keep trying while we wait for all our tests to be completed. So, curious how long did it take your from meeting with RE to actually starting treatments?
