We're at almost 7mo and it hasn't happened yet! Once or twice around 2.5 or 3 months we got a 5-6 hour stretch, but that was apparently a fluke. We're still up every 2-3 hours but I've stopped expecting it to change so it hardly bothers me.

Miss A was sleeping nine hour stretches by 2-3 months but she didn't consistently STTN until she was almost two! She needed the night feeds for comfort and because although she was dropping day feeds she wasn't eating enough calories in the form of solids.

At 6w my EBF baby started sleeping 6hr stretches. Of course, that all went away during our 4mo sleep regression (lasted 2 months ugh). Now she is 8 mo and sleeps (usually :bummed: ) 8hrs and then eats and then goes back to sleep another 4 hours.

My baby loves to eat! I don't think she misses a meal... Upping her intake in breastmilk (I give her 3 bottles a day while I work) around 5mo did help us with her sleep regression. At 4 mo she had been getting 12oz while I worked during the day and by 6 mo she was up to 18oz. She also dropped a feeding in the evening during this time so I was trying to make up the oz for her.

@HabesBabe: yup! Usually she only wakes up enough to eat and is still at least half asleep. She's good about going to sleep on her own though so if she does wake all the way I can put her in her crib and she will fall asleep on her own.

C STTN early (around 8 weeks) but then started having night wake ups around 6 months. She would wake to nurse until we sleep trained right before her first birthday.

H hasn't STTN yet (even after sleep training) and he's 7 months now. I think he started doing 5+ hour stretches consistently around 3-4 months.

@Mrsjets: do you wake her up for her dream feed (as in, you go in and feed her, regardless of whether she was sound asleep or stirring a bit)?

10 months for really sleeping through (10-12 hrs). She was able to do 5 hrs pretty early on (maybe 8 or 10 weeks) but it wasn't that helpful because it usually occurred between 7 and midnight.

Both LO's were EBF and with both we consistently got 5 hours at two weeks (great weight gain and ped said to stop waking for feeds at 2 week appt). We got 8+ hours consistently around 7 weeks with LO1 and close to that with LO2. We got 12 hours when we sleep trained (to fall asleep/ self soothe) at 7 and 6 months. I wanted to share even though I may be jinxing myself, because I feel like there is a perception that if you BF then you sacrifice sleep. Both of my boys were 8+ lbs at birth and are big eaters, which I think contributes to their good sleep stretches.

Thanks ladies!! so interesting to see, I think it really just boils down to the baby! But the theory that they need a certain amount of calories a day, and if they get it before going to bed then they will sleep also makes a lot of sense to me.

I also grew a very large boy! All around big not just chunky! I'm having a girl this round. I didn't breastfeed long with my son due to him being Preemie and a lot of complications. My supply was amazing but I just never got the hang of trying to go straight to breast from the nicu and it was rough. Now that I know what to expect ( because this baby will be early too) I am hoping to succeed with BFing. So just curious about sleep!

She did a few five hour stretches by 8 weeks, but that was only a handful of times. There was one night where she slept seven hours a few months ago and that's the longest she's ever done. Now at 8 1/2 months she's still never slept through the night. We average 3 hour stretches...

I BF our second, and she's a great sleeper. She was sleeping 4 hour stretches in the hospital! We had a few 2-3 hour stretches when we first came home but consistently got 4-5 hours by the time she was 3 weeks old.

She's 3.5 months now and sleeps 10pm-6am most nights but on occasion gets up in the middle of the night to eat.

I was super lucky and 12 hours by 8 weeks. However, I pumped an extra session before I went to sleep so she always nursed and we offered a couple extra ounces in the bottle. She was taking almost 9 oz of breastmilk before bed so that probably helped keep her full and happy and asleep.

On the flip side at about 8 months old, she decided to make up for it and woke up 2 times a night for the next couple of months just to torture us.

@Bubbles: We are incredibly lucky. I hope I didn't just tempt the sleep gods though! He's a chunk (we got to the pediatrician today, but I think he's around 19 lbs and is 4 months), which I think helps. He definitely has his other areas of struggle... boy loves a good diaper blow out and is the spit up king! He's gotta STTN or else Mama wouldn't have time to do all that laundry!

She was a pretty good sleeper and could do 5 hour stretches a few times a week around 2 months. Then we hit the 4 month sleep regression and we didn't get back to 4 or 5 hour stretches until about 8 months old. Then around 10 months she had one wake up per 11 to 12 hour night until we weaned at 14 months. She sometimes still wakes up if she can't find her paci or cup of water but it's rare. She usually sleeps between 11 to 12 hours per night. Just depends on how much she napped the previous day.

LO was STTN by 4 months (can't remember when he hit 5-hour stretches), for which i am grateful. however then we did a bit of backtracking starting around month 5 when he would wake up consistently around 4.30am. that continued until he was about 12 months old.
