@delight: I hear you. I haven't had a haircut, dentist appt, eye appt, bikini wax or been able to leave the LO with anyone until just recently when he turned 4 months and his feeds were more spaced out. Hopefully as they get older and take solids and drink from cups, it will get easier! Hang in there momma!

@JerricaBenton: that's good to know! I was thinking that was my best bet as well...wait until LO can drink from a cup on his own and then put breastmilk in there. Hopefully he won't reject it. Some babies don't associate breastmilk with cups so they don't want it.

@sslm: I have - we bought the Lansinoh Momma bottle, medela, tommee tippee, avent, playtex with latex nipple...and the MAM. the only one he will take is the MAM so we are sticking with that and continuing to try to get him to take more ounces.

@yin: you're at a great time, 4 weeks is what the ped's office told me I should work on the bottles. I completely understand not wanting to lug all the pump parts around, wash, sterilize, etc. I did that with my first DS and it was stressful but now that my 2nd doesn't take a bottle well, i can see the pros and cons of both. I def don't want to be pumping for all of his feeds, but the freedom that comes with someone else being able to give LO a bottle would be great!

Ugh. LO is 7 months and has taken a bottle ONCE. Oh well... It's not a huge problem for me because I'm in Canada and off for a year.

Have you tried different types of bottles?

We tried to introduce a bottle at 2 months. Wasn't going to happen. I never really pumped anyway, so it wasn't a big deal. We gave her a straw cup at 6 months when we started solids and she took to it immediately. I still haven't, but if I had to pump I'd give her milk in the straw cup.

@Cchoi4: our biggest problem with LO at this point is her refusal of the bottle. We also started at 6 weeks and it took about 2 weeks until she'd take one. We tried to do it consistently but it's so hard cause she hates it so much. She's 3.5 months now and has only taken a handful of bottles, and none of them happily. It's hard for me to go out anywhere and it's stressful on anyone watching her. It's nice to know we aren't alone.

We introduced at 2 weeks. She took it ok for a couple weeks then stopped. It was 12 weeks before we did a bottle bootcp before she started day care.

We're nearing 4 weeks, and I have been holding off on introducing a bottle. With DS1 I had to exclusively pump, and I hated washing pump parts and bottles several times a day. Whipping out a boob is so much easier, and I'm delaying the bottle for my own selfish reasons. I plan on figuring out a pump plan next week so that we can introduce bottles soon. Hopefully it won't be too late.

We started around 2wks and give her a bottle around once a week. She used to take it really easily, but now at 10wks she's more fussy about it-- i.e. it has to be the perfect temperature, she has to be sitting up just right, in order to drink from it!

We introduced them around 2 weeks and she does very well going back and forth. She can even take bottle from me and then nurse next thing.

I introduced them right away but we stopped around 6 weeks . She started daycare at 4.5 months and it took her a week to get the hang of bottles.

DS2 was introduced to a bottle at around 6 weeks but we didn't give it to him consistently. He always refused with such a vengeance that we kept revisiting it. Now he is 4 months and the most he has taken is 2 oz for DH. Some days he will take it, some days he won't. DS2 just loves boob!

Did you have difficulties introducing a bottle with your EBF baby? How did you overcome it and how long did it take?

At this point, I'm wondering if he'll just transition to a sippy earlier than take a bottle!
