a long time ha. the first month was the worst (lots and lots of crying, almost like she was grieving! but to be fair, she'd never lived anywhere other than what she knew as home). sometimes she still says she wants to go to her "real home" or her "brown home" and her "real pink room" which is sad, but she's getting better. we moved in in August.

At 1.5 my son was mostly ok, just very clingy with me so you could tell he was going through something. His crib was the same so he didn't seem any different with sleep.

We also moved when he was 13 months (fun year) and he didn't seem to notice at all at that age.

E was 2 when we moved and she adjusted immediately. We had two nights of crappy sleep, then her sleep actually improved. She called home "new house" for a couple of weeks but then even that stopped.

Ours have been surprisingly flexible, and aside from a few minutes of confusion/sadness here or there, everything was fine!

It took a couple of weeks but that was mostly our fault because we hadn't prepared ahead of time by getting the alarm system installed or setting anything up to make it feel like home!

We moved when DS was 2.5 and he handled it just fine. We moved again when DD was 1 and her sleep was majorly impacted. She couldn't sleep in her new room for a good month.

We moved last when DS1 was about 13 months. There was no hiccup in sleep, but it may have been because we had overlapping leases for a month so we could do a slow and gradual move. (I was 7 months pregnant and DH in med school). That meant that DS had already been spending a lot of time at the new house, and had even had a few naps in a pack n play there as we were slowly moving in.

Good luck!

We moved when my DS was 18 months. We lived at my parents house for 6 weeks between closings and he did well with both transitions from old house to grandparents and then from grandparents house to new house. Not too many sleeping issues or behavioral issues to deal with. I thought it was going to be a nightmare but I'm so thankful that it wasn't!

I would say a few weeks. We moved the day before Halloween. E knew what was up when we were packing, but didn't fully understand until we got to the new house and spent time there. The harder transition for us was preschool and big boy bed wrapped up in the move experience. We've been in the house almost 2 months and there's still times of struggle adjusting with him. Baby J adapted well to having his own room and crib.

At 1.5 it took my son about two weeks to seem really adjusted. The first week after moving was the worst though (poor sleep, lots of meltdowns); after that it got a lot better quickly.

It didn't take DD any time at all! She was shy of 2.5 by a couple months. I just focused on things I knew she was excited about, like stairs, playroom, more space to run, to get her looking forward to it/ into it.

We are moving to our new home on 12/27. We've prepared T pretty well, I think, and he seems to understand what is happening. But, he's 3.5 so who knows. R is only 1 and doesn't have a clue....

I'm wondering how long it will take them to adjust to the new home? I'm guessing sleep will be gross for a week or two. We have moved twice with T already and I recall that it was a week or so adjustment each time (he was 14 months and then 27 months when we moved).
