@PrincessBaby: Is she in the infant room? Napping SUCKS until they move to the toddler room.

B had a boy in his class that started at 10 months and he cried every day for weeks. He evenutally stopped and now he loves it. I think it just takes longer to adjust to daycare when they are older.

Ok apparently after the crying incident, she had a great day! She took two 7 oz bottles, ate spaghetti, peaches, Cheerios, and her snack pouch! She must have been starving from not eating yesterday, lol...She also took a nap but someone cried and woke her up after only 30 mins...Hopefully she gets used to noise like that and doesn't let it wake her later down the road...I feel SO MUCH BETTER!

DS started at 5 months and has been doing ok. His only issue is he is also Team Boob- so it took a lil bit for him to warm up to the idea of bottles (even though we had been giving them to him at home) and now when he sees me after work- he is all over me to eat. And has started waking up at 2am to eat again.... ahhh! Its only been a month and a half so I am hoping it will get better and he will remember how to STTN.

Started at 4 months and I would say about two weeks until she wasn't crying so much. Heartbreaking but unavoidable. Now I have to chase her down when I go to pick her up. She loves it.

@PrincessBaby: It took about 2 weeks, L is 14 months old and now she loves going there. She will still randomly sometimes cry at drop off though, but when we had a nanny she would sometimes cry when I left in the morning and sometimes she cries when DH leaves. It is a clingy age.

Don't worry, H will adjust and she will probably love it there! DD eats her solids so well now because she sees all the other kids doing it. It has been a really great experience for us so far and we are only 2 months in.

Right away...but she was so itty bitty, she didnt know any better. She was very, very tired at the beginning. Hell, she is still worn out at the end of the day...but its good for her to socialize and learn new things. Plus she had no problems with bottles. How does H do,with those? It is a big adjustment, especially at this particular age. Hang in there!

3 days but she was only 6 months old. I'm sure it takes longer when they are more aware. It took my 3 year old a week to get used to preschool.

@MsLipGloss: H is actually Team Boob! So I think that makes it tougher...She likes to just snack on solids and will only take a few oz from my husband when we've been working on getting her down to just a couple of nursing sessions a day.... It's like she refuses to make the connection of something other than boob being her main food source- everything else is just for fun to her. Sooooo I am worried about all of this transition at once:(

Thank you so much for your responses, everyone! Looks like this will be a total work In progress and this pukey feeling isn't going away anytime soon:(

Charlie started going to preschool two mornings/week at 12 months and I think it took about a month and a half, give or take, for him to not cry when I left. I think if he had been there more often it might have been a shorter transition. He still gets sad when we leave him with our nanny two days/week and he's been with her since June! He's quite attached to me though, and I was home with him for 9 mos. I hope H adjusts soon!!

2 weeks. LO started at 11 months, and because i wasn't going to be working for 3 weeks, i slowly eased her in. The first two weeks are especially hard and they may not eat/sleep very well.

We transitioned her to a new daycare at 13 months and it took her about 1.5 weeks to transition. Even when she moved to a new daycare room it took her 1 week to transition without crying at drop offs.

R started at 12 weeks, so totally different but it still took her a month to get use to it and having a bottle during the day.

I would think that going every day is going to help her ease into it though.

We started at 15 months after being a SAHM the whole time. I would say it was about 2 weeks before she stopped crying for Momma or milk during the day and needing to be held nearly all day (we also day weaned just before we started and I was not pumping). Now, after 3 months, she is totally fine other than the occasional fake crying when I drop her off. Good luck!

It took awhile. LO started daycare at 3 months old. He was saucy and stubborn, but got used to it. For the longest time, he would cry when we left. He's coming on a year at daycare this month and stopped crying when I left recently. Like other posters, the first couple of weeks tired him out. Daycare has been great for naps and socializing. It got our family into a routine.

My LO started daycare at 13 months (she just turned 14 months). It took a couple of weeks before she didn't cry in the mornings at drop off. They're all different though . . . some transition much more easily (and quickly), and others take a bit longer. My LO is 100% Team Mama --I am sure yours is too!--, so the adjustment might take a little longer.

My best advice is to keep a consistent morning routine, to talk to her about what you are doing (getting ready for school) and where you are taking her (to school to see her teachers, to play, to sing songs, etc.), and to do a quick drop off (I give her a squeeze and a kiss and tell her mama will pick her up this afternoon, and then I leave). Do not linger! Also, my LO has a lovey that has been great during the transition as well (it's a lamb).

She will probably surprise you at how well she does after a few days. Although I will say that I did part time for 2 weeks before transitioning to full time, and that my experience is that the transition was easier when she went to full time . . . because the routine was more consistent I think.

11 months was a really tough age for us at daycare too even though she loved her teachers and had been with them from early on. So be prepared that it could just be the age.

I've been a SAHM with my LO for 6 mos now, and prior to that she had a nanny. I start a new job on Monday, and she will go to daycare full time until I find a nanny and then she'll do MTW @ daycare and ThF nanny. I put her in day care this week part time, WThF from 8-12 to ease her in... Yesterday they said she wanted to be held a lot and refused to eat AT ALL. I got her home and nursed her and she fell asleep for almost 3 hours. Today I dropped her off and she was hysterical:(. I called an hour later and as soon as they transferred me to her room I heard her bawling in the background:(. They said they were trying to give her a bottle but it wasnt going very well:(

Yesterday I was like "It's just the first day, it's okay..." But today I'm definitely weaker, and I have a sick knot in my stomach, my heart is just breaking for how she must feel right now.

I wonder how long it will take to get her used to daycare? She is 11 mos btw....

My poor boo boo
