My DS had a hard time with it, but like @marionberry said, when my SIL gave him one when we were out (around 8 weeks) he took it without fussing. She said that she walked around while feeding him so maybe DH could try doing that? He never took a bottle well from DH until I went back to work (12 weeks) and all of a sudden its like he knew the boob was not an option, started taking bottles with no problem from that day forward.

Our son was so stubborn! We tried for weeks. It wasn't the bottle - it was us. When grandpa came over and made us leave for a little while, baby drank. They smell you and don't want to take the bottle. It's often why daycares do so much better introducing them. Do you have other friends and family who can try to feed your lo?

@butterbean my lo was the same way. The day before I went back to work it took my DH 45 mins to give her 3 ounces (I went back part time at 10 weeks). Over the previous 6 weeks we tried everything different bottles, me going upstairs, me leaving the house entirely NOTHING worked. I was so worried then someone told me to try not to stress that she wouldn't starve herself. So the next day came and she did good not great but she took the bottle but the end of the week it was not a problem at daycare at all. I was shocked. My DH tried again on Saturday same issue as before. I guess she knew at daycare there was no chance of me coming to the rescue at home eventually I would come home or downstairs.

By 4 months my DH was able to give her a bottle and at 6 months I tried. I had already pumped and she hadn't had her last bottle for the day yet when I pick from daycare. She was hungry and DH wouldn't be home for 30 mins. She took it no problem didnt even blink and eye at it. I was so happy I almost cried. I thought this day would never come.

So just tried to relax she won't starve herself. I would also recommend not giving her to boob if the bottle isn't working as long as she gets something. I would just wait to the next feeding even if it was only an hour because she hadn't had much of the bottle. Good luck

@Corduroy: I agree the people at daycare are pretty good experts. The only thing that threw us for a loop is he got the daycare "crud" and was so congested we couldn't tell if he wasn't latching on the bottle because he didn't like the bottle or because he just couldn't breathe

@butterbean: he's on week 2 of the MAM and not latching as well as they would like. Aka he's barely taking 1/2 an ounce at times.

@T.H.O.U.: why did daycare suggest you try a different brand?

@erinpye: using a dropper is a good idea!

@Jess1483: hmmmm....that's interesting! I will definitely keep this in my back pocket and let you know if I have more questions

@Corduroy: I hate wasting the bm too especially since I'm trying to build a freezer stash...my dh suggested that we just give her 1oz at a time during this period until we find a bottle she likes...so far I wasted close to 5 oz (I can't imagine 100!!!)

@butterbean: Hugs. I spent my maternity leave stressing about LO taking a bottle. I feel like I tried everything. $100 in different bottles and wasted about 100oz of milk. I brought in family to feed so it wasn't me. It finally took three 9 hour daycare days to convince her to eat. My doctor and daycare assured me it was the right thing to do. If LO2 has the same issue I'm just going to let it sort itself out at daycare.

My little guy never took a bottle. Took me a month to figure out that the problem was I have high lipase in my breastmilk--it tasted awful! Fresh expressed was fine, but if I stored it, even for a couple of hours, it was gross. Something to check. If it's gross, I can give you more info ;)

First baby- a couple of tries. Second baby- 10.5 months old and has never taken one. I think that's pretty unusual though, and you can try cup feeding, using a spoon, a dropper, even on a super young baby, to get her used to taking milk from a source other than you. Good luck!

She had one when she was 3,days of old. She would go back and forth with no problem. I wouldn't worry about daycare because she will learn to drink if she is hungry. Could your Dh give her a bottle when you aren't home? Mine would hold out if I was nearby if she was wanting boob instead of bottle.

I'm sorry. We are on like week 3-4 of trying and it's tough. We went with MAM for daycare and he's done ok but they would like us to try the NuK bottle next week.

We are on day 5 of introducing a bottle (just during 1 feeding/day) and my (ebf) 10 week old lo is still rejecting them... We have tried avent natural, tommee tippee and mam...

She will start daycare in 2 weeks and I'm starting to stress out she may not like bottles...

My dh will give lo the bottle but she will cry hysterically...after about 10-15 minutes of trying to introduce a bottle, I will give her the boob and she'll be one happy camper...

Any bottle feeding tips? Did you try introducing a bottle at every feed? How long did it take for your lo to come around and take a bottle?
