Just about a week or so. Ours was coupled with a trip out of town, so I'm really not even sure if it was the traveling that made his sleep less than stellar, or if it really was the 4 month sleep regression.

its so hard to remember when it started and how long it lasted, all of the regressions and sleep deprived nights sort of ran together lol, bc my LO had several "regressions" starting around 3 months. i think it was around 16 weeks that things got bad (up every 2/3 hrs or so) then she started only waking 1 or 2 times to eat which was nice, then around 19 weeks things got rough again for a week. At 20ish weeks sleep got a lot better and she was only waking once a night to nurse, but then she started rolling in her crib which screwed up her sleep for a few days, but we are back to normal now. (for now! lol) Phew!

I really believe that the first year has so many developmental leaps and what not, esp around 3/4/5 months, and it really screws up their sleep because they are going through so many changes and learning something new every day! I think it is pretty rare (and lucky!) to have a baby whose sleep isnt affected by those developmental changes and all you can really do is wait it out and know it will end eventually, or sleep train.

Forever? LO started sttn at 2 months. At 4 months the regression hit. She had several weeks of 6-8 wake ups a night and now at 7.5 months she still wakes up 1-3 times (usually 2)

Ugh!

DD is 7.5 months and she still wakes during the night. So far we've been lucky and its only 2. She was up almost every hour at 4 months

Forever, sorry. She STTN and slept really heavily until 5 months, then just changed forever. She still doesn't always STTN at 19 months now.

I don't know.. my LO is 20 weeks and her sleep is crap. I tried to think that if I didn't acknowlege that the 4 month regression existed, it wouldn't happen... but yeah, it's real.

He's 6 months old and I think we're still dealing with it...it started right around week 15/16, and he went from sleeping 12 hours with 1 wakeup to sleeping 11-12 hours with multiple wakeups. Now it's just very inconsistent--some nights it's 1 wakeup, some nights it's 3. THANK GOODNESS he never did the hourly wakeup thing (and now I totally jinxed myself...).

How long did your LO's 4 month regression last?

If you were lucky enough to escape it, :P

M's was about 2.5 months long of hourly wake ups. She was a crap sleeper to begin with so it only got worse. But at the end of it at 7.5 months she started STTN. And then at about 10.5 months she started waking up again. Yippee.
