I bled (more like heavy spotting) for 4-5 days after insertion. I didn't expect it, but luckily it didn't last too long.

I've been bleeding since March 17th, had it put in March 7 and had no problem till the 17th, really getting tired of it and it being heavy and me being afraid to go out, for example, this morning I had nothing then afternoon has come and it's been heavy, I heard sometimes it last 3 months then nothing, I feel like I am going to bleed to death

@DillonLion: @bisous: thanks ladies. I'll give it a few more days. My doctor told me he was going to be on vacation this coming week, so I'll have to go to his office at the hospital if I have any urgent concerns.

I only bled very lightly for around 4 days. I didn't even need a tampon. If it doesn't get considerably lighter soon, I would call the doctor.

@lamariniere: I wore a pad for 3-4 days, and since then it has been light enough that i only need a pantiliner.

@DillonLion: are you spotting or bleeding (like period quantities)? It has only been three days but I'm using the most absorbent tampons and I definitely have to change them every 4 hours or so. I'm pretty sure it isn't getting worse, but hard to tell if it is getting better.

Don't have one myself, but I know a handful of women who've had them and most had extended bleeding. Like 2+ weeks, one had over a month. It would lighten up and then return, over and over and over. Within 6wks things seemed to normalized somewhat.

I had the copper IUD inserted 2 days ago. Insertion was a breeze and I didn't feel anything at all. I started bleeding yesterday and it is bright red. I understand that it's pretty normal even if it's no fun. I'm not having cramps or any other symptoms. If you bled after your iud insertion, how long did the bleeding last?

FWIW, I'm 9 weeks PP and EBF and hadn't had any sign of AF returning prior to the iud. I know this bleeding isn't AF.
