@Swurlygirl; sorry I didn't respond sooner. We've been doing so much Easter stuff! I was thinking about you, though. Sounds like you are doing/trying lots of things. For the oatmeal, steel cut oats are supposed to be the best (you might already know that). If the MMP doesn't work for you, you might try the MM Special Blend. I had more luck with that one. Sounds like the pumping is going well. Have you considered domperidone instead of the reglan?

We're at 9 months and still going strong. I had goals of 6 weeks, 3 months, and then my big goal of 6 months. I love it though so when 6 months came along, there was no way I was ready to stop. New goal is 12 months or when I get pregnant next, whatever comes first.

Also, I never had to pump, except when I was full or LO had the odd bottle of pumped milk. Had I had to pump everyday, I probably would have stopped at 6 months. I give major props to the mommas who pump everyday!

I'm very fortunate that I'm on mat leave until October as we've had plenty of issues and I still have crappy days where nursing doesn't go so well.

With LO#1 we went about 14 mo. Had a crazy amount of pumped milk in the freezer too so once I stopped BF I was able to use the frozen in a up and his food.

@Monkula: I've tried fenugreek, reglan, oatmeal. I just ordered blessed thistle, MMP, MMT that are supposed to arrive on Monday. I pump 6x per day for 30-40 minutes each time (making sure I go 10 minutes past last drop). My pump (Ameda) does a pretty good job, I think. I feel completely drained, and I can't squeeze anymore out after I'm done with the pump. I rented a hospital grade Medela for a while, and it didn't do any better. DD was jaundiced and sleepy right after birth, and I couldn't keep her awake to nurse to save my life. I think we just got off to a bad start, and my body doesn't want to catch back up. It took 4 weeks before I realized I had supply issues (at her 1 month appt she had LOST weight since birth!)

@Beehive: This is exactly how I feel about breastfeeding. Reaching our goal was amazing. I had that strange, what's next feeling especially since my LO is a little boob hound. Barring anymore awful colds, I'm going to go as long as I can. I can't wait to be done pumping at work. I have to plan my whole day's work around the pumps.

@78h2o: I'm relieved to get the antibiotics going. I'm hoping that I'll rebound from this. Pumping so little is discouraging. I'm glad that he made it to 7 months before formula was introduced. That in itself is a huge accomplishment. Maybe by next week, I'll feel normal again and my supply will rebound.

We're at 5 months so far, and I originally thought I wanted to stop at 6 months, but now I'm so conflicted about how long to go for! I never had 1 year as my goal, but he likes it so much and I have to say I like it too, much more than I expected to. I think I'll be sad when I stop. On the other hand, I'm not looking forward to pumping at work, and I really would like to have my body back (and not have to worry about wearing clothing that works with nursing).

@cascademom: I am getting over a sinus infection myself. The antibiotics totally helped, but I am still not quite myself. It definitely impacted my supply as well. Hope you feel better soon.

@swurlygurl: supply issues are so frusterating! I'm sorry!

@anbanan15: WOW! You rock!!! I'm so impressed!

My original goal was 1 year, but I am finding it harder than I thought to pump enough for my LO when I am at work. I am still hoping to EBF until 6 months (another 8-9 weeks), but I know that is really going to take some hard work. Beyond that, we'll see... I want to keep breastfeeding in some capacity until at least 1 yr. It is very hard though with work.

Moms who made it 1 yr + - were any of you WOHM? How did you do it?!

@swurlygurl; what have you tried to boost supply? http://lowmilksupply.org/ is a great resource for ideas and you might find something that works for you. Have you considered going back to some bf and pumping? Have you considered trying a different pump? Some pumps just don't work as well for some women, and some women respond much better to the hospital grade pumps, especially when looking to boost supply rather than just maintaining.

@2PeasinaPod: This sounds just like me. :( DD is 10 weeks right now, and I started EP at 4 weeks. My supply is getting worse and worse. I'm really hoping to make it to 6 months, but I'm doubtful that will happen. It makes it even worse that all my friends/family had enormous success - some even pumping upwards of a gallon a day!! - so they don't understand my problems and think I'm just not trying hard enough.

12.5 months. He would've weaned earlier if I had let him, I think, but I was bound and determined to get him to a year, and then let him make the choice. He weaned quickly after that. I actually had enough milk frozen that he was still getting a bag of thawed breastmilk in a sippy cup once a day until he was 14.5 months.
