@runsyellowlites: Yup-- I was never predictable enough to try for the shettles method. Good luck!

@swedishfish: @ineebee: @redsmarties: @Foodnerd81: @fussygal: Thanks ladies. This is my first pp cycle so no clue if I've even ovulated or if next month will be regular or not. We're trying the Shettles Method for a boy this time so bd'ing a bunch around O time isn't really what we want to do. Hopefull it won't take long for me to see a trend and I'll get good at pinpointing the magic moment!

I'm on my third month of charting and I feel like this is the first month I'm not trying to guess what's going to happen and I know what is or all and what isn't. The second month was rough because I was comparing it to only one other month.

I was lucky and my cycle was fairly regular, so I could see that I ovulated the first month off birth control, though that month was much longer than what turned out to be normal for me. After 3 months-- including that first month after BC, I could see a pattern (so really 2 months if I wasn't coming off the hormones). But O day still varied for me by about 5 days, so I would just start BDing a couple of days before the earliest O and kept going until I saw confirmation.
Like I said, though, my cycles were pretty regular which made it a lot easier.

I've charted on and off and have done three full cycles, I think. I'm at the point where I think I *should* know when I'm going to ovulate but I'm always off by a bit in predicting it (my luteal phase goes between 11-13 days which doesn't help). But, I fully understand how to interpret the temperature shift and all that and it came to me pretty quickly.

Taking Charge of Your Fertility says that 3 cycles should be enough. For me, because I have PCOS, I charted for two full years and never saw a pattern.
I know this is super unhelpful, but I hope that you find a pattern quickly!

I think it depends on how regular your cycle is. If I had a 28-day cycle all the time (I wish!!) and on my first charting month see that I O-ed on CD14, then I'd probably be confident that I would O on or near CD14 most of the time.

But I agree with @Swedishfish that three cycles will probably be enough to see a pattern you can really depend on. At least that's what the tips on FF suggest.

I've heard it takes about three cycles. I charted but it didn't work because I wasn't ovulating!

ETA - TRIED to chart :)

This is my very first cycle ever to start temping and charting CM. Just wondering what the average time has been for the charting bees to see a trend in ovulation. Or atleast to where you were able to predict when it was coming.
